전주식당 — Restaurant in Busan

To end the day, we had a very traditional Korean meal, home cooked style at this restaurant. Now every one is used to getting free banchan (side dishes) in Korean restaurants when you dine there. 4? 5? Maybe 6 banchans. This place serves you 20 free banchans! Yes! See pics and video. Owner even offered to refill any banchan that we finished.

They only have 4 items in their menu - Sundubu (Tofu Stew), Dongtaetang (Pollack Fish Stew), Doenjang Jjigae (Soybean Paste Stew) and Kimchee Jjigae (Kimchee Stew). But what’s more amazing is their price. Everything is 10000 won except the Pollack Stew which is 11000 won. And even if you just order a single serving of stew, you will still be served 20 banchan!

So we ordered one each of the 4 stews. And to be perfectly honest, the taste of the stews were not fantastic but they were all on par.

And on top of that, they give free dessert. Not sure what it was but tasted like ice cold cheng tng. As the PRC Chinese live to say these days: “At this price you are still asking for a bicycle?”

Place is famous for this unique practise. Was interviewed for TV program some time ago. The two ladies who run the place were ecstatic when they learnt that we came from Singapore.

Strongly recommend to all Busan visitors. Really value for money and overwhelming when you see the huge tray of 20 banchans being served! Surely there will be more than a few that...

서면에서 아주 유명한 백반집. 7000원짜리 백반에 반찬수 약20가지. 메뉴는 일반적으로 백반정식. 손님들은 찌개 하나만 선택하면 된다. 김치찌개 된장찌개 순두부찌개 3가지중 하나만 선택하면 반찬20가지와 직접 선택한 찌개가 나온다. 명성이 자자하여 혼자 밥먹으러 가봤는데, 들어가자마자 일하시는 이모님이 “총각~ 김치찌개 줄까 된장찌개 줄까?“ 라고 물어보시길래 뭣도 모르고 된장찌개를 선택했는데.. 알고보니 순두부찌개도 있더라. 김치찌개 된장찌개 순두부찌개 이 3가지중에 하나만 선택하면 끝. 반찬수도 많고 맛도 좋다. 또 좋은건 공기밥 무한리필. 밥이 모자라면 셀프로 리필해서 먹을수있다. 반찬도 무한리필이다.셀프바에서 덜어먹을수 있다. 나도 꽤 많이먹는 대식가인데, 반찬 거의 다먹고 밥2그릇먹었더니 배가 부른 차원을 넘어 배가 아팠다. 후식으로 식혜도 한잔 꼭 들이키자. 서면에서...

They have great Kimchi. Other banchans are actually useless. It will be better go to quality...
