옐라 | Yella — Restaurant in Gyeongju-si

I ended up here after a hectic morning where I had taken a KTS from Seoul to Gyeongju. Having not eaten anything since morning, I was starving when i reached here late afternoon. I had already checked the menu and I knew that my heart was set on Tacos. So with full flair and confidence, I ordered two of those with a side of curly fries and a drink. The person who took my order did not say anything but gave me this weird look and I thought defensively, " What's wrong with ordering two tacos? Can't a person be hungry?". Well, I placed my order and took a seat and then came the moment of truth. These aren't your small pocked sized tacos. These are GIANT tacos, like they are so big that one taco fits in two of my hands and now I know why I saw that weird look. 🤦🏽‍♀️ But then because I was defensive, I had to finish them and they tasted like happiness! I had ordered one falafel taco and one fried chicken taco. Out of pride, I finished the first one and because it was so delicious, i ate up the filling of the second one but couldn't finish all of it. This was hands down one of the best meals I had in Korea and if I ever end up in the city again, I know where to go to eat, only I will curtail my enthusiasm while...

We had dinner at this place and the food was very good. The next day we went back for lunch: the sign said “open” and the lights were on, but the door was locked. We waited for almost an hour with other people, but no one showed up. We managed to contact him on Instagram and he replied that the restaurant was closed (with a laughing emoji), because he had things to do at home, and that he would open at 6 pm. At 7 pm we went back, he was there but everything was closed, and he said he wasn’t going to open. He could at least have mentioned it on Instagram instead of saying he would open and then not doing so. Very disrespectful behavior. Small diner style place in a convenient location. The menu is small and has a few fast food dishes. Owner was so rude and unwelcoming I was close to just leaving 🫣 I don’t know why he was like that but I felt so uncomfortable I was hungry so stayed and ordered the vegan chicken for 11.000 (more if you don’t pay cash) It comes with fries.
