I decided to visit despite the place looking a bit shabby, since it had great ratings on Google, Naver, and Kakao. Ended up going two days in a row.
Mongguk (pork soup): Compared to other places, this one had a stronger pork-bone-soup base. At first I was worried because of a slight smell, but I finished the whole bowl. Thick, hearty, and pretty good.
Spicy pork stir-fry (jeyuk-bokkeum): This is the hidden star. Even with pork skin left on, it added a chewy texture that paired perfectly with rice and lettuce wraps. I originally came for the soup, but I fell in love with this dish and came back the next day just for it.
Grilled mackerel: Huge portion, not salty at all, and absolutely delicious. With kimchi and white rice—an instant rice killer.
The side dishes were all great too. My mom especially loved the kimchi so much that she asked for a refill.
The staff aren’t overly bubbly or overly sweet like in trendy new restaurants, but they have this cool, down-to-earth kindness. For example, while I was picking at the mackerel, the lady casually said, “Flip it over to eat it better.”

Read more제주 현지식을 드시려면 여기로! 어머니가 차려주신 밥상같아요 식당을 들어갈때 약간 허름한 느낌이 들 수 있어요. 그런데 그 느낌, 분위기때문에 음식이 더 맛있게 느껴지네요 사장님 부부께서도 정말 재미있고 친절하십니다 :)
몸국이 정말 맛있습니다. 직접 뼈를 고아서 끓이신다고 하네요! 뼈가 씹히는 자리물회도 뛰어난 맛이구요 제육볶음을 시키면 독특하게 된장이 풀어진 냉국을 주시는데 서울에서 먹던 냉국과 달라서 독특하게 느껴지네요 다른 메뉴들도 여럿 있는데 먹어보지 못해서 아쉽습니다. 개인적으로 다음번 제주에 가도 다시 방문하고 싶은 맛집입니다!
