Udon Kaden — Restaurant in Jeju

OverPriced, OverHyped, Mediocre, Go somewhere else. The soup base does not taste like authentic japanese food, even though this place was created by a famous japanese chef in korea. They forgot to give me eating utensils. The noodles are not too expensive, but any of the fried dishes will run you 20-30$ and are small enough they fit in the palm of a small persons hand. My wife got the Udon with Fried Onion. The fried Onion was sweet, at least. That was the best thing we ate. Lol. I got the Cold Soba style noodles. Neither were very good, and neither matched the menu pictures. My mom can make better udon and soba, literally. And as my wife said, any if the premade soup bases you can buy from a grocery store pack more flavor than the soup base here. The place has only been around 3-4 years, and so either the quality has rapidly drastically decreased, or it was never very good to begin with. Without the famous chef’s name attached to this establishment, this place is nothing. At least, the noodle dishes were not expensive. (8$ for the cold soba, 11$ for the udon with...

Having eaten many udon soups in many places I have to say the udon here is spot on. We had the tempura udon and the portions filled eveyone's belly - kids actually couldn't finish. The soup seasoning is authentic and anyone saying the flavour is bland is probably not used to eating...

샤려니 숲길에 방문했다가 배가 고파서 교래쪽에 방문했다가 예약하지 않고 즉흥적으로 방문한 곳 정호영 쉐프가 운영하는 우동집으로 원래는 예약을 해야만 방문할 수 있는 곳인데, 정말 운이 좋게도 예약 없이 갈 수 있었다. 전화로 문의했더니 식사가 가능하다고 해서 바로 방문했다.

식당에 들어가니 정호영 쉐프님께서 조리하는 주방에서 열심히 일하는 모습을 볼 수 있었다. (참고로 우동카덴 평에서 정호영 쉐프가 있는지 여부가 맛 평가가 갈리는 것 같았는데, 우리는 또 운이 좋게도 정호영 쉐프가 있었다.)

너무 급작스럽게 방문해서 어떤걸 먹어야 할지 모른채 가서 그냥 먹고 싶은 메뉴로 주문을 했다. 가장 기본인 우동부터 냉우동, 명란파스타우동, 닭껍질 튀김 등 다양하게 주문해서 먹었다.

간이 세지 않아서 호불호가 분명히 갈릴것 같다. 즉, 간이 쎈거나 조미료 맛에 익숙한 사람들이라면 맛이 조금 떨어질거라 생각하고, 건강한 맛을 선호하는 사람이라면 괜찮을것 같다. (개인의견 ^^)

암튼 우리 가족은 모두 맛있게 깔끔하게 싹싹 먹었다. 특히 아이들이 처음 접하는 닭껍질 튀김을 가장 잘 먹었다.

가격 역시 인기 쉐프의 가게라고 해서 프리미엄이 있지 않은 평범한 수준이었다. 다음에도 운이 좋아 갈 수 있다면...
