자주 다니던 서소문 장호왕곱창은 재개발때문에 문을 닫았다. 오래전 그곳 사장님과 친인척 관계라고 듣긴 했다. 이곳 서대문은 과거에도 서소문 김치찌개와 비교시 맛이 좀 떨어졌었다. 시원한 맛이 아닌 조금 쓴 느낌의 김치맛이고 돼지고기의 질도 떨어지는 느낌이다. 지금은 여러 곳에 지점이 있는데 맛이 지점마다 다 틀리다. 어느 폭우 내리던 여름날 인천공항에서 오자마자먹었던 서소문점의 그 김치찌개가 더 그리워졌다.

점심에 김치찌개 먹으러 가면 항상 대기 줄이 있는 곳. 바글바글 좁은 가게에 테이블도 빽빽히 들어찬 곳이지만 서빙이 빠르다. 편하게 앉아서 느긋하게 먹을 수 있는 그런 분위기는 아니지만 보글보글 끓어오르는 김치찌개에 웬만큼 자신있지 않으면 못할 것 같은 시큼한 김치와 콩나물 반찬 단 두종류만 가지고도 한끼 배부르게 먹을 수 있는 곳이다 라면 사리를 넣을 때 주의: 김치찌개가 끓고 냄비 뚜껑을 걷어내자마자 라면 사리를 넣는데, 혹여라도 아주머니가 육수를 더 부어주려고 하면 거절할 것. 국물이 갑자기 식어서 라면도 맛이 없고...
