This was supposed to be a zen and introspective experience away from the bustle of Mapo market. I’d reserved this 3 weeks in advance and you do need to reserve.
The tea (we chose the signature and genmaicha) was delicious and the tea snacks were high quality. The service was great too, prompt, courteous and in a beautiful well-thought out space.
However, what made the experience not as pleasant as it should have been was the noise level control. It is more like a common coffee house or casual dining restaurant because people are speaking at their normal volumes constantly and the place is packed (because the tea and service is good). You can only stay an hour, but while that rule was fine, you may not want to stay the whole hour in a noisy environment anyway.
I’d suggest that Tea Nomad enforce a “minimal noise” “please whisper” rule given that their marketing is about a zen and peaceful experience. Definitely worth a reservation and visit but only if you can manage your expectations that this is completely not a peaceful and zen experience, though it’s a nice environment...
Read moreComing to a foreign country is never easy… I was away from my family and felt a lot of stress from life and despite Korea being super fun and amazing, I couldn’t get myself to relax. When I found T Nomad, I finally found that place. Even just by walking up the stairs I could smell lavender and immediately felt my mind at ease. The blue nomad tea was amazing and so were the cute sweet treats they served (my favorite was Mori the rabbit)! The matcha bingsu was also so good! I’ve never had bingsu this amazing in my entire life! I found myself coming back more and more to try everything and now as I get ready to leave Korea, I am leaving this review to thank their staff for being so kind and to thank the owners for creating an atmosphere that could allow me to truly relax. The woman at the shop always greeted me with warmth in her eyes and there was always a kind man ensuring that everyone was having an enjoyable time. That level of diligence and dedication to the creation of a great atmosphere is so important and when I come back to Korea I know this will be the place I...
Read moreThis is such a beautiful space! So wonderfully decorated with lots of soft linens and wood. Really creates a cozy and calming space, with soft instruments and bird sounds it really is an oasis from the city.
I got the matcha latte set with wagashi, but got to try the Nomad blue tea and castella from a friend. The matte latte is quite sweet, so good if matcha is typically too strong for you on its own, and the Nomad tea is very lightly floral, not much flavour (which is good if you're not a fan of strong brews or astringent teas).
They've got a boiling kettle of water in the middle that you delightfully can use a bamboo scoop to refill your pot of tea with, and lots of beautifully displayed ceramic cups and bowls that you can buy.
We were also very softly and politely asked to pipe down for the sake of the other guests which I think is a great thing actually hahaha, to maintain the mood and vibes. And they were really so so nice about it, very...
