Itโ€™s been less than two months since the tragic incident here, and to be honest, I hesitated before deciding to come back. But the sweltering summer heat called for something cold and groundingโ€”and when it comes to ํ‰์–‘๋ƒ‰๋ฉด, ์ง„๋ฏธํ‰์–‘๋ƒ‰๋ฉด still remains one of the very best.

The moment I took my first sip of the icy, clean broth, I was reminded of why this place has such a loyal following. The flavors are subtle yet deepโ€”cool, earthy, and refreshing in a way thatโ€™s hard to put into words unless youโ€™ve had truly good ํ‰์–‘๋ƒ‰๋ฉด before. The noodles have just the right bounce, and together with the broth, they create a balance thatโ€™s both comforting and cooling.

I also ordered the ๋งŒ๋‘, which I honestly think is one of the most underrated items here. Each dumpling is generously filled and delicately seasoned, with a soft, almost pillowy texture. Itโ€™s the perfect companion to the ๋ƒ‰๋ฉดโ€”filling, but never heavy.

Coming back felt a little emotional, but the food reminded me why this place continues to matter to so many. Itโ€™s more than just a restaurantโ€”itโ€™s part of the cityโ€™s culinary memory. Still one of...

Food definitely on the pricier side, but it was to be expected in Seoulโ€™s Gangnam district. Furthermore portions were quite generous so value wasnโ€™t too bad. Waitresses know their stuff and recommended the mul-naengmyeon (๋ฌผ๋ƒ‰๋ฉด) as well as pork pyeonyuk (ํŽธ์œก). On the other hand the bibim naengmyeon (๋น„๋น”๋ƒ‰๋ฉด) and dumplings/mandu (๋งŒ๋‘) we decided on for ourselves werenโ€™t the best (since we had better bibim naengmyeon and mandu at a fraction of the price at other places), the mul naengmyeon with extra vinegar and mustard over top, and pyeonyuk were very good - especially the pyeonyuk which absolutely melted in our mouth.

Of course this was a Pyongyang Naengmyeon place as described in the restaurantโ€™s name, so it is to be expected that the mul-naengmyeon (a specialty of the north) was better than the bibim-naengmyeon which tasted mostly of chilli flakes and lacked the signature sweet and sour profile of most bibim...

Still one of my favorites.

Of course this was a Pyongyang Naengmyeon place as described in the restaurantโ€™s name, so it is to be expected that the mul-naengmyeon (a specialty of the north) was better than the bibim-naengmyeon which tasted mostly of chilli flakes and lacked the signature sweet and sour profile of most bibim naengmyeon weโ€™ve had.
