This is THE Sundae place to go if you're in the area. The sundae here uses veggies as part of the filler instead of noodles or rice like most classic sundaes. This results in a less chewy but super tender bite. The sundaeguk is super delicious. Known for being a good hangover soup, but also enjoyed with soju at night by locals. The soup itself is a warm pork broth that is so comfy and delicious, I wish I could have it for all my cold nights or nights when I'm not feeling well. The meat is super soft and tender. Their kkakdugi (pickled radish) is really good as well. Overall, doesn't feel too heavy. Not English friendly but if you can figure out how to order, I recommend getting the set with the extra meat on the side, especially if you are eating with others. I was not that hungry when first seated, so I was worried about finishing when I saw the big portion size. It was so good though, I eventually...
Read moreOne of the best meals of my whole life. I don't speak any Korean at all so I was very intimidated to write my English name on the waiting list but it worked out and I got seated and there was already the BonChon and then they just brought out food. I didn't even order and it was exactly what I wanted which was the stuffed Korean sausage sundae. He will immediately understand the rich broth and set of flavors is why it takes about 30 minutes to get a table around lunch time. The staff was very quick and friendly and the mixture of the ingredients like eating the green pepper between bites and adding all the dipping sauces made it truly truly unparalleled flavor profile and experience. Some of the best intestines and a true feeling of Korean ambiance at a small table with small chairs. I can't get over how rich the profile of flavors were and would come here constantly if I...
Read moreDuring my travels abroad, I found it really hard to discover truly good local restaurants — most places were just heavily advertised and not as good as expected. That’s why the Korean restaurants I’m reviewing now are not sponsored or promotional in any way. I’m sharing them for foreign travelers like me who are looking for real local hidden gems, not tourist traps. If you’re someone who values authentic food experiences, I hope my recommendations help you enjoy Korea even more. I’ve recommended many good places in my reviews, so feel free to check out my account or ask me for food suggestions!
Even though I’m not usually a fan of 순대국 sundaeguk (Korean blood sausage soup), I always come to this place whenever I visit Gangnam. The sundaeguk here is honestly one of the best I’ve ever had, so if you're looking to try this traditional Korean dish, I highly recommend this spot. Keep in mind that sundae is made from pig intestines, so it might not be for everyone. The broth here is quite spicy and flavorful.
They don’t use cheap, factory-made sundae. It’s all handmade, which makes a big difference in quality. They also serve suyuk (boiled pork slices), but only at specific times — I haven’t had the chance to try it yet because it sells out quickly.
There can be a line even during lunch or dinner, but the turnover is fast, so you won’t wait too long. If you like it then you can take away also
If Gangnam is too far, there’s another sundaeguk place near Namyeong Station 남영역 (close to Seoul Station 서울역). That one has a clear, non-spicy broth — a milder version for those who prefer something lighter. I’ve written a review about it on my page, so feel free to check it out.
