Nuldam Space - Haebangchon branch — Restaurant in Seoul

I don’t usually post bad reviews, but this branch here upsetted my husband and i a lot. We climbed up the pretty steep hill to get to this cafe only to be treated poorly by the staff. Upon entering, a customer was exiting to go up to level 2, she was holding hot coffees when she was exiting. My husband is a vegan, and that’s why we wanted to give this cafe a try. We went to order, and requested for hot latte, and the staff just kept replying “only ice”. We thought he probably didn’t understand, so we translated with her via the app - asking her if there’s hot drinks and she said “yes”. So I proceeded to asked her, which one by pointing, and she went on again saying “only ice” by rolling her eyes and with attitude. My husband got annoyed, and said it’s okay let’s leave, so we decided to leave. Upon exiting, the staff rushed out to make sure we were exiting? Why the need for that? Not sure if there’s some racism here, but service attitude is horrible and it’s honestly not worth climbing up to visit this cafe....

There was no one there when I went there, the person didn't even look at me, she was on her phone, not a hello. I had to start talking to her to have an interaction. She answered me in Korean. The menu was in English so I asked her what was written on the menu for the concept, she didn't answer me. I asked her if she spoke English, she answered me again in Korean (not even a yes or a no). I am aware that it is up to the tourists to make an effort. So I asked for a cold chocolate, just so it would be understandable. I was ready to take out my phone to translate into Korean, but she looked at me badly and spoke to me again in Korean. Let's be clear, she didn't want to work, I was pissing her off, so I left,

She nodded to thank me because I WAS LEAVING. She understood my "OK thanks, bye"...

I arrived about an hour and a half before closing, greeted by a cozy atmosphere with Chet Baker playing softly in the background—a relaxed, slightly melancholic vibe that felt perfect for writing a letter to my future self. The host gave us clear instructions, making the experience simple yet meaningful, and we enjoyed some excellent food and drinks along the way!
