Songtan Budaejjigae — Restaurant in Seoul

Budaejjigae is Spicy Sausage Stew made with Sausage, Ham, Richam and Kimchi. The name, literally means Army Stew, comes from sad history after Korean War when People around the US Army Base got the ingredients of Ham and Sausage from the Army and created new dish adding other Korean ingredients. Now it come to the dish many Korean people like.

The restaurant has specializes in the stew for more than 20 years and its taste is true to the original with abundant Sausage and Ham in it. As the stew is salty and spicy, Rice is provided but adding Ramyon noodles is recommendable. Grilled Beef and Sausage is also a delicacy. It opens 24 hours, 365 days and valet parking...

Good place for army stew that is also open late. They serve the stew on a table with a gas fire, and so you can control how warm you want the stew to be. Be careful not to let the soup boil down too much or it will be salty! Anyway the staff will add more liquid to the soup if you need. The side dishes are also tasty :) :) what I really like is the rice they serve! It's a mix of white rice with some purple grains of rice!...

Their signature budae jjigae was delicious!! Not too spicy and full of meat, veggies and flavor. The staff were so kind and knew we were foreigners so they took extra care of us in explaining their menu (in great English!) and how to enjoy the food. The owner (I assume) said he hopes to see us again and I will definitely try to come back next time I’m in Korea. Was $22 for me...
