My recent visit to Maharaj Indian Restaurant was absolutely fantastic, and I can't recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, the experience was wonderful, setting a high bar for local Indian cuisine. First and foremost, the food was incredibly fresh and flavourful. Every dish we ordered tasted vibrant and authentic. It's clear that high-quality ingredients are used, and the chefs know how to layer spices perfectly to create memorable, rich tastes without being overpowering. Not only was the quality excellent, but the portion sizes are genuinely generous. We were pleasantly surprised by how much food arrived, offering fantastic value and ensuring we left feeling perfectly satisfied. What truly elevated the meal was the lovely and very attentive staff. The team at Maharaj clearly takes pride in their work. They were welcoming, quick to assist, and showed great knowledge of the menu, making us feel completely looked after throughout the entire evening. To top it all off, the prices are extremely reasonable, especially when you consider the high quality of the ingredients, the generous portions, and the fantastic service. Maharaj offers an exceptional dining experience that is easy on the wallet. If you are looking for authentic, flavourful Indian food served by caring staff, Maharaj is the...
Read moreI have read through the different reviews, and it seems like some have found the food to be full of flavour… while others (myself included) did not. Long story short, I was craving an Indian for many days until we got one from here, and let’s just say I was extremely disappointed. We had ordered a lamb madras, chicken tikka, garlic nan and pilau rice. The pilau rice was really nice however, can’t say the same for the lamb madras and chicken tikka. Both the chicken tikka and lamb madras were so bland with zero flavour apart from a bit of spice, which wasn’t as spicy as I expected. The nan bread was just pizza dough with a bit of garlic sprinkled on top. I have to say, I have had much better madras and chicken tikka from my local Indians and even kebabs here in Scotland, full of flavour and spice. As well as much better texture and flavour of the garlic nan. All I will say is, for anyone who loves their spice as well as flavour, I wouldn’t recommend as you will find the curries very bland with a bit of spice. I...
Read moreThe food was lovely, the service quick and very pleasant and the general eating experience was great - I tipped accordingly. However, the following day I realized I'd left my jumper there ( it was a special one, as I'd bought it on a trip to see my son) so we went back to ask. I couldn't park so my wife jumped out and went to ask about it. First of all the person who was there pretended not to know English, so my wife started speaking in Spanish. After a while he said, 'oh we can speak in English' (?!). He knew about my jumper as he said 'Was it black?' (it was) but for some reason was unable to find it. Obviously, ultimately it's my responsibility as I shouldn't have left my jumper (and I know it's only a jumper!) in the first place but the attitude of the person who talked to my wife and the 'disappearance' of the jumper was a sour note on what had been an enjoyable evening. They could...
