I arrived right at opening (20h00) to order a pizza to go, but was told it would take 30 minutes. I didn’t mind waiting, so I asked for a beer. Since it was going to take some time, I asked if I could just eat my pizza there instead. Unfortunately, the experience from that moment was disappointing.
The waitress had to ask the main server, who responded with the most disdainful look and an unpleasant mouth sound to mean “no.” No explanation, no apology. I felt completely dismissed, as if I didn’t matter at all. Ironically, a couple arrived just after me and were allowed to eat outside immediately. It gave me the impression that a single person isn’t welcome to take up a table, which feels like discrimination.
They suggested I could eat inside, but it was scorching hot with no air conditioning. I decided to wait outside, drinking my beer at a high table near the entrance. Every time the main server passed by, he brushed against me without even acknowledging my presence. Not a single word. I ended up waiting more than 45 minutes for one pizza.
On top of that, the pricing is confusing: the Sapore di Mare pizza costs €14 on the restaurant menu, it used to be 12€ but they manually modified it to be 14€, while online it’s listed at €12. Also, it’s not available in a family size, which is fine, but the online menu should be updated to reflect that as well.
To be fair, the pizza itself was good in flavor, but smaller than expected-especially for €14. It didn’t even fill the box. For a seaside city like Alicante, a seafood pizza at that price and size feels underwhelming and a rip-off.
Overall: good taste, but very poor service, lack of respect for solo diners, and unclear pricing. A real shame, I will not go back and I suggest to look carefully before choosing...
Read moreWhat a find! This is definitely a local place in a primarily Spanish speaking neighborhood. I was walking around looking for a different place to eat and I came across the restaurant. Though my initial server had some issues with basic English since my basic Spanish wasn't working very well, he brought over a different server who had a pretty good grasp of the English language and was able to recommend and handle my order. She was an excellent server and took care of all my needs. I had the tagliatelle alla bolognese since it was with homemade pasta that made it even better. I talked to some other people in the restaurant who visited the restaurant often and they said how amazing the restaurant truly was. I could see this was a neighborhood gem and I hope to come back again for another meal in this fine restaurant. I highly recommend...
