A True Gem: The Best Indian Food I've Had in Years!
I can honestly say that the Tandoori House Restaurant in Almuñécar serves the best Indian food I have eaten anywhere in the world in many years. What makes it so exceptional is the incredible quality and authenticity of the dishes. The sauces taste as though they are prepared individually for each order, with a freshness and complexity that you just don't find in restaurants that rely on generic, pre-made stock sauces.
On our first visit, we were served by a friendly and faultlessly helpful young waiter named Sammy Jay. I mentioned that I prefer authentic, savoury flavours over the sweet profiles often found in Indian restaurants, and he was brilliant at advising us. We followed his recommendations and tried the Ginger Chicken, Lamb Jalfrezi, and a Prawn Puri, all accompanied by a delicious garlic naan. Every single dish was excellent. We have been back several times since and have tried the Lamb Madras and a Ceylon-style Lamb, and the quality has been consistently mind-blowing compared to the standard fare that is often served up as Indian food these days.
The service, particularly from Sammy, is a huge part of the wonderful experience. He always makes a point to ask about your preferred level of spice, ensuring every dish is tailored perfectly to your taste.
My only piece of constructive feedback is regarding the ambiance. The decor is quite simple, and the tables are left bare, which might not look very inviting to passersby. I truly believe that with a few small touches to make the setting as appealing as the food, the Tandoori House would easily become the most popular and sought-after Indian restaurant in the entire area.
Despite the simple decor, if you are looking for genuinely outstanding Indian cuisine, I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. The food and service are truly...
Read moreI couldn't believe how bad the food was. We ordered a take away. The two biriyani's tasted dry and bland. The tarka dal had a thick layer of oil so it was very greasy as well as tasteless, the nans were bland and the tikka masala was overly sweet, neon red and had very unpleasant taste. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was the worst Indian meal I've ever had (and I've had hundreds). It tasted like food from a package at the supermarket. If you like good quality Indian food - this is not your place! We were so disappointed to waste our money on this meal that we...
Read moreThis restaurant is a new gem for Almunecar. Six of us were celebrating a friends birthday and we received a warm welcome on arrival. The menu is huge and has something for everyone spicy or not so spicy. Our dishes included butter chicken, lamb ceylon, chicken dansak, tandoori meats and all were delicious. The food came promptly and the service was excellent. The people who run this amazing place are lovely people and we can see it becoming a great success. We will be...
