Our home away from home. This place is beyond dreamy. Beautiful garden, romantic interior, boho stage for live music, neighborhood watering hole bar. The food is outstanding! And the staff is just the absolute greatest! Always helpful, kind, inclusive and caring. It’s busy and a well loved treasure in Altafulla, so make reservations and make them early. Summer is always BUSY so be patient and kind. The folks working here have work ethics my grandparents would be proud of. And the fooooood! It’s REALLY good. El Faristol is turning into a magical place to visit. I went twice last weekend with my wife and our friend’s dog. The old house and garden leave you with a feeling that it is a special place. The ambience is cool (cocktails in garden-shade listening to jazz kind of cool). May - who I think runs it, has put together a talented team who seem to be intent on expressing that talent in their work, which is rare, and a joy to see. The food is excellent - a wholesome mix of traditional Iberian classics and inventive, modern cooking. They do a mozzarella and chilli dish which is something I was dreaming about having again. Delicious cocktail, the experience of which is absolutely ruined by the subpar treatment of paying customers who only want drinks. When you say you’re only here for cocktails, the staff stop being friendly and sit you as far in the back as possible (nice tables are for people who want food, you see). Even though cocktails cost more per piece that most of their appetizers and just as much as a salad, you still get the subhuman treatment if you don’t want to eat. If you’re willing to put up with that, come here for drinks. Otherwise, find an accepting bar where they’ll treat you like the paying customer you are.
