Casa Felix — Restaurant in Altea

My partner and I have been to many restaurants in Altea and the area beyond, and of all the places, FELIX has to be the best all round experience.

The service are engaging and attentive, for example when it started to get a little cooler outside, we were offered blankets, and when my wine glass was empty the waiter noticed and asked if I wanted another one.

The main ingredient, the food was first class, we visited the restaurant last year and the same, the food was consistently excellent. I must mention the cheesecake… it’s worth going to Altea for. (Apparently the French toast is supposed to be even better than the cheesecake, so something to try next time)

Finally the location and atmosphere, again first class.

BUT the food is pretentious and uninteresting. it is a bit like your best friend who has no experience making food outside his own kitchen suddenly decided to open a restaurant serving his personal idiosyncratic favorites... it's not bad, strictly speaking, but it's very average. the combos don't work very well. the flavors are not balanced. the oil used for frying is not fresh enough. it's food suited to a basic beach cafe - not to a relatively expensive restaurant. you can't randomly mix curry, mayonnaise and pineapple and expect it to work ;) apple crumble desert was very bland. used apples with no acidity, no caramelisation. but again, not a bad things to say about the service and the...

We had a late lunch at the 'Felix' on Saturday 230515 and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance, food quality and standard of service. After ordering our food, there was evidently some minor kitchen crisis (it happens) and our planned meal was delayed. The charming waitress apologised for the delay and presented us with a delightful started, gratis. We sat and enjoyed the views, drank our respective drinks and watched the people passing by.
