A great place for classic Spanish tapas , meals & snacks plus drinks & of course a really good cup of coffee ! The vibe of the casa is relaxed & informal & it's decor is an eclectic mix of rustic / classic Spanish & some quirky & interesting art pieces , plus some humorous & light hearted pictures dotted around the upstairs dining area . The casa has a good location on the seafront promenade & offers good views of the sea & beach from it's dining & drinks alfresco terrace . The service here is polite & friendly & although the casa is in such a beautiful location the prices for food & drinks are modest ! . There's plenty of seating outside on the terrace , weather permitting & the seating area upstairs is a cosy more intimate setting & would suit those perhaps on a romantic night out , or a small group of friends as it's not overly big . The casa also has a glass covered conservatory style seating area also , which is heated in the winter months with some flame effect pillar style heaters , & it all adds to the cosy intimate atmosphere of the casa . The coffee here is of a very good standard & it's a full continental style roast & strong enough to take a drop of milk without losing any flavour , & to my taste . The food here is traditional as before mentioned & cooked fresh to order & very well presented & the prices are modest considering the quality of food on offer . The drinks prices are modest here & they have a good selection of local & international spirits , plus beer on tap & some quality local Spanish wine's either by the glass or bottle plus soft drinks . The restobar casa del mar is very popular with locals & tourists alike & should you visit I'm sure you will enjoy the casa experience as it is something a little bit special ! A must place visit those who enjoy quality food & good service & all @ sensible cost in such a beautiful location . Can only recommend . I HOPE THEY CONTINUE...

Stopped by Casa del Mar during a day in Altea, drawn in by the stunning seaside view and chilled-out vibe. The location is absolutely perfect for relaxing with a drink and watching the sea—but unfortunately, the food was a major letdown.
It all started oddly with some crackers served alongside our drinks, which we quickly realized were old and past expiry—a very bad first impression. Then came the croquettes, which were clearly frozen and reheated. They were edible, but nothing special in taste or texture.
The grilled octopus dish followed, and it was perhaps the most disappointing plate of the day. It lacked seasoning entirely, and was paired with a bland mashed potato that felt like an afterthought rather than a complement.
Lastly, the garlic prawns, a classic tapas that’s hard to mess up, arrived swimming in oil. The prawns were soggy, and the flavor was completely overwhelmed. It felt rushed, greasy, and lifeless—which summed up most of the food experience here.
To be clear, this place is not suitable for dining, especially if you’re looking for fresh or quality local food. It felt like a textbook tourist trap—amazing views, but underwhelming and overpriced food.
That said, the bar has a decent seaside atmosphere for a drink if you’re just looking to relax and enjoy the view. For a cocktail or a quick cerveza, it might still be worth a visit. But for a meal? I’d strongly recommend exploring other nearby spots where quality is...
