Santangelo’s — Restaurant in Altea

Not a place to go back to, especially when considering there's a great Italian restaurant near the church in Altea called In Bocca al lupo [15-20min walk from Santangelo]

Had a Diavola pizza that was not spicy at all, and a little bit too much oil. Was good though, at about a 7/10 rating in my opinion.

Asked for a seafood risotto and was the worst I've ever been served. It's not Rissotto. It's quite literally rice with tomato sauce and few minuscule frozen prawns + mussels. Ate pretty much nothing and when collecting the plates the waitress seemed uninterested that I ate almost nothing, perhaps assuming I was full from the pizza. She had a good service and polite, but the dishes apparently are cooked by a non-italian chef and maybe that could be the reason? Or perhaps it's just not that great recipes.

All in all, paid nearly 40€ for 1 person and felt upset with myself for giving it a chance instead of going to Bocca di lupo while knowing how...

Avoid this place. Easily one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had in Altea.

The Diavola pizza was completely bland — no spice, dripping with oil, maybe a 5/10 at best.

But the “seafood risotto” was downright insulting. It wasn’t risotto at all — just cheap white rice mixed with tomato sauce and a few tiny frozen prawns and mussels thrown on top. I’ve had better food at a budget cafeteria.

I left most of it uneaten, and the staff didn’t even bother to ask if something was wrong — just took the plate away as if nothing happened. Service was polite but completely indifferent, and for nearly 40 € for ONE person, this felt like a rip-off.

If you care about food, save yourself the disappointment and go to In Bocca al Lupo near the church — real Italian,...

I have been lucky enough to eat here on numerous occasions and let me tell you it never fails to deliver. You could be in Italy. Pizza,Pasta, and wow, Calzone and Stromboli. I can’t leave a review without mentioning the staff, Eddie, Philippe & team make you feel one of the family. You certainly will not be disappointed. Perfect place, perfect location. NOT to be missed. Thanks again for the best Italian in Spain. We’ll definitely be back in...
