Excellent service, great food, very acceptable price. We dined at this La Cena 9 days ago, late in the evening. They found us a table for 5, no problem. I only rate a 4 because there are some amendments La Cena need to make:
There are 2 locations for La Cena in Altea (area?), and they don't have a unique name on Google or any identifiable traits to distinguish them. This confused us and part of our group went to the wrong La Cena and had to quickly walk to the other 🙈 The address of the other La Cena is actually the address of this one, but this one has the correct pin location. Photos between the 2 locations are also mixed up. This absolutely must be resolved: both the address, and a unique name for each location 👍
Their website blocks AU IPs. Bit technical, but I'd you're a foreigner using data roaming on your phone, it may give you an IP from your home country, and La Cena's website appears to block these. Unfortunate, because I would've preferred to contact them directly about these errors. Recommend the website is opened up to accepting requests globally 👍
Otherwise, I'd give this place 5 ⭐. We ordered mussels and crab croquettes (they're great!) and garlic prawns. No complaints, everything was great.
Would recommend.

Read moreI have been to La Cena restaurant twice in Altea recently. In the past, I have gone many times to their restaurant in the middle of Albir. They usually prepare fish and seafood very well, my last fish order was on Altea´s seaside paseo. The rodaballo (turbot) was cooked well with a nice sauce. However, the vegetables served with the fish had been previously blanched, they did not have any herbs or seasoning and were served room temperature. When I told the waitress the vegetables were cold, she immediately argued that they were warm when she served them; no they were not. Vegetables cannot turn cold that quickly. In the past, La Cena made some of the tastiest sautéed vegetables with their main dishes, but no longer. The fries (chip) were nice but the mayonnaise they served with it had sugar in it, which doesn´t go well on potatoes to me. My second visit was with about 10 people which was reserved in advance. The staff seemed a little confused about dealing with our group, in spite of having it reserved. Food including my fried shrimp was adequate, but not great. I am hoping they can return to their former level of food and service. Parking in this area of Altea is almost...
Read moreWhen we arrived here we loved the decor and had high expectations after hearing good reviews. We ordered carpaccio (not nice), focaccia (nice but not worth the money as not homemade bread) and avocado prawn (tasty enough) for starters which were overall okay but nothing special. Then for mains we had mussels (stone cold with a congealed “sauce”), burger (in a dry crusty roll), goats cheese salad (okay) and sea bass (inedible and mushy with a weird sauce covering it). During the whole time no one asked how the food was and we seen multiple other dishes getting sent back to the kitchen uneaten. Once we finally got to speak to a waiter, we explained our disappointment however was a struggle to get anything off the bill. We were then charged full price for the prawn starter (when it was meant to be in a set menu with the sea bass) and also charged a large instead of a small for the salad. Very over priced for sub standard food. Not sure if it was an off night but there are other reviews regarding slow service (even when not busy) and would not be...
