Osteria Italia — Restaurant in Arona

Okay, so here we are on the wonderful island of Tenerife. We decide to go out to eat for my friend's birthday (we're self catering this year). Choices: Spanish, Chinese or Italian.

As Osteria Italia has some great reviews (including one from the owner of this apartment)… off we went. 18:45 on a lovely Sunday eve and we get seated at a nice, spacious table.

We spotted, and were presented with, the chef's specials on being seated. I had quickly decided that I was going to eat something with fish so ordered a bottle of white wine (from Tenerife of course).

Our starter and main meals were presented in good order, with plenty of time between the two. It's great to visit a restaurant whose staff can guage the right amount of time between courses; neither did we feel rushed or ignored. Super 🌟 s

I overheard our waitress say something in Italian to some other diners and I must say, from then on, it was a lot easier for me to speak some Italian than it was trying to converse in my very poor Spanish. I think that waitress (I hope..) appreciated it. And if I made any terrible mistakes... Well, she was very kind and had a genuinely lovely smile.

We visited this place many times on our previous visit to Tenerife 2 years ago and loved it. This year we booked a bit farther away so we're not frequent clients, but we did come once to order take away. This takeaway was beyond disappointing. The food size was criminal. Ravioli, 14 euros, 7 ravioli in total. We ordered risotto for our 4 year old, adult portion, 16 euros. There were a few spoons of risotto in total. My 4 year old ate everything and was still hungry. A 4 year old not chubby child eats an adult portion and still wants more. This is not ok.

This is such a shame, cause we really liked the place, but it's safe to say that we will be dining in other restaurants in Pal-Mar...

Nasty place, starters were burnt and mains were really tiny portions, me and my partner were very busy all day and starving so had to find a place for food and unfortunately ended up here, waiting hours for food with it becoming cold while we wait and charged 3 euros for a small cup of water. It’s a fake restaurant, we eat out all the time and have been to some very nice Italian restaurants, also some worse but this is by far the worst experience so far, it just looks nice but the quality of the food and service is awful, we had to go to the pizzeria up the road straight after and it was so much better, never had to go to another restaurant immediately after like this in...
