Tulum Chill & Chilli — Restaurant in Arona

Had high hopes for this one, based on the many positive reviews we read, however it didn’t quite hit the mark. The California Ribs were an actual workout to eat, and let’s face it, ain’t nobody looking to workout in this heat. The marinade was good, but them ribs were tough as old boots, as they say.

The Chilli Con Carne looked the part, being served in an edible dish, but unfortunately the flavour was nonexistent. No heat, no depth of flavour and in all honesty, very bland. Even the cheese was tasteless.

The Fajitas were probably the high point, but again, nothing to shout about. Chicken had some good flavours, but the veg was way overcooked. I like a little bit of bite to my veg, but aside from a few peppers, this was too soft and kinda sloppy.

The restaurant itself looks good inside, and the staff were nice enough, but the food just didn’t land for me. Pricing was reasonable and relative to its location, which is slightly out from the Golden Mile.

I was seriously craving real, authentic Mexican food, and I’m so glad I came across Tulum via a TikTok recommendation. It did not disappoint!

The nachos were out of this world — not your standard version, but a delicious twist with a touch of mango sauce that elevated the dish. I had the tacos, and loved the option to choose between soft or hard shell — such a nice touch. The pork filling was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour — absolutely mouth-watering.

I enjoyed every single bite, and the mango daiquiri was the perfect sweet pairing. Service was also spot on — our waiter was friendly and efficient, and we never had to wait long.

My only suggestion? Add churros to the dessert menu! I was a little disappointed by the lack of traditional options for dessert — but that doesn’t take away from how fantastic the starters, mains, and drinks were.

I visited this place when on holiday with my boyfriend in September. We were really craving burritos and this place had good reviews so we gave it a try. I got a cocktail that had strawberry ice cream on top of it and it was delicious!! Such a good cocktail definitely one of the best of the holiday. We then ordered the Caribbean nachos, and a chilli burrito and chicken burrito. It was so much food I dont think we needed everything we got, but it was so delicious so I wasn't mad about it at all. The service here was also very attentive, warm and welcoming. The only thing I would say is that the chairs on the terrace are pretty uncomfortable unfortunately. Not great for someone with back problems!
