Playa de las Vistas is an amazing beach — on the right, left, and even in the center, there are rocky areas, and where there are rocks, there are fish! One of the best things about this beach is that you don’t have to swim far out to see marine life. Even if you just snorkel around the middle of the beach near the rocks, you’ll spot plenty of fish.
While snorkeling, I saw all kinds of species, including the beautiful Ornate Wrasse (pyskoun paví) with its vibrant green, blue, and yellow colors. I also saw Canary Damselfish, Snappers, and further from shore — but still near the rocks — I came across a curious European Barracuda. Don’t worry though — this type of barracuda is completely harmless.
Right now, it’s breeding season, so there are thousands of tiny fish swimming around — especially small gobies, wrasses, and other juveniles. It’s amazing to see whole clouds of baby fish just below the surface, especially near the rocks. Makes snorkeling feel like swimming through a living aquarium.
Another great thing: no sea urchins! Even around the rocks, I didn’t see a single one, so there’s no need to be nervous while swimming or snorkeling.
If you look out to the sea, on the left side, where the rocky area goes deeper, you’ll often see divers — the rocks drop down to around 12 meters, creating a great spot for seeing even more impressive sea life. So yes, Playa de las Vistas is also great for scuba diving, not just snorkeling.
Honestly, I can’t think of anything negative to say about Playa de las Vistas. It’s a beautiful, safe, and fascinating beach for swimmers, snorkelers, and...
Read moreIf you're staying at in Los Cristianos it's the best beach. It's broad sandy expanse allows for it to be used by the many who flock to it. The area nearest the sea is for the more casual who are happy sitting or lying on the sand whilst those who prefer the comfort of sunbeds and parasols are well provided for as are those less mobile with access to the beach and a shaded canopied area where mobility scooters and wheelchairs can be placed. The beach sands and promenade are tended to every day keeping it tidy and rubbish free. The sea is great for swimming and enjoying yourself as the temperatures are warm more or less throughout the year. Los Cristianos attracts many nationalities and this is reflected on the beach with the diverse languages to be heard. There are also a variety of items being sold on the beach so don't be surprised or alarmed when you're approach by someone offering to sell. They're friendly and if you're not interested they won't hassle you but if there's something that interests you can haggle and come away with a bargain. Playa Las Vistas is surrounded by holiday apartments, hotels etc so inevitably it is busy . If you're there early you can almost have the beach to yourself but you won't be alone for long. Nonetheless it's a fine beach, ideal for families and everybody who wants a relaxing day on warm soft sands and a cooling dip...
Read moreWe love Playa de Las Vistas. We have stayed here many times. It's the best beach for young children. It's predominantly Spanish people on the beach, especially in the evenings. I've spent months here and I've never seen anyone drunk or causing trouble. It's a very family oriented beach. However, the most difficult thing I have found here is that since we were last here an escooter company has setup. There are a lot of idiots on escooters on the promenade. So dangerous for everyone as they drive like maniacs. The tranquility of the beautiful promenade for walking has been ruined as I'm constantly watching my 5 year old son in case he gets run over. It's absolutely ridiculous. The authorities need to enforce the rules and seize escooters on the promenade. They belong on the road. Give us back our...
