Restaurant Dopietta is a hidden gem that should not be missed. This charming Italian restaurant offers a dining experience that is both authentic and unforgettable. The decor is warm and inviting, with exposed brick walls, wooden tables, and rustic accents that transport you straight to the heart of Italy. But the real star of the show at Dopietta is the food. The chefs here are clearly passionate about Italian cuisine and it shows in every dish. From the homemade pasta to the fresh seafood, every bite is bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. For starters, the burrata with cherry tomatoes and pesto is a must-try. The creamy cheese pairs perfectly with the tangy tomatoes and the bright, herbaceous pesto. The beef carpaccio is another standout dish, with thinly sliced, tender meat and a drizzle of olive oil that enhances the natural flavors. Moving on to the pasta dishes, the tagliatelle with wild mushrooms and truffle oil is an absolute winner. The homemade noodles are perfectly cooked and the earthy mushrooms are complemented by the luxurious truffle oil. The spaghetti with clams and white wine sauce is another standout, with plump, juicy clams that are cooked to perfection and a sauce that is both light and flavorful. The main courses at Dopietta are just as impressive. The grilled octopus with potatoes and garlic is a standout dish, with tender, smoky octopus and crispy potatoes that add a nice texture contrast. The grilled lamb chops with roasted vegetables are another winner, with perfectly cooked meat that is juicy and flavorful. To finish off the meal, be sure to try the tiramisu. This classic Italian dessert is made with mascarpone cheese, espresso, and ladyfingers, and is a deliciously indulgent way to...
Read moreIt’s not easy to find a good “buffet libre” in Barcelona - and Doppietta is an option acceptable but, unfortunately, not the best. The offer of 25€ per person consists of three turns: free buffet with cold snacks; a round of hot dishes; a dessert or a coffee - and is accompanied by a drink of a choice (water / vermut / aperol spritz. Doppietta does two turns - at 13:30 and 15:30. The cold snacks are good and you can note the quality of “materia prima” (focaccia however still has a lot of space to improve). It’s a classic variety of cold antipasti. Around 14:15 starts the “hot round” and at this moment they barely renew the buffet selection. The hot dishes, unlike the antipasti, leave much to be desired. Risotto was tasteless and I would bet that the rice is being cooked separately (and in the water lacking salt) since it lacks flavor completely. Gnocchi are very heavy, made with a lot of flour, they sink straight to the bottom of the stomach. The 4 formaggio sauce is lacking flavor and the right texture, and is almost at the border of splitting. Meatballs can boast of a very good meat texture but the sauce of the super market style (something similar to a bad “tomate frito”) kills the flavor. Carbonara, however, was really good! The desserts were of an average quality, the coffee was good. In short: Great concept, some space for...
Read moreWe went for the Sunday brunch a few weeks ago. On arrival the, I'm assuming, manager, checked our reservation - turns out I had booked for the bar. I don't remember doing so - but yes clearly my mistake as we have a small baby in a pram so that´s not ideal. We did not expect a table to suddenly be created for us - but the total disinterest and well 'sorry for you, look at what you booked´ (proudly pointing at booking on his tablet) was shocking. Zero attempt to make some kind of plan for us. We then suggested an outside table not reserved for buffet - away from heating - as literally the only option. The waitress for the outside section offered us a table in the ´proper´ outside area a little later when other customers did not arrive - which was ok. Food was nice, but honestly very mediocre. The carbonara was fantastic and desserts great, but otherwise nothing special. My boyfriend had another two 'interactions' with the manager - both instances full of attitude and just unpleasant. It was somewhere I picked for a special occasion that day, and I left feeling quite...
