Very tasty and stylish restaurant. We were looking for somewhere to eat one Sunday afternoon and decided to try Pepe Tomate. We were initially impressed with the set up of the restaurant. The interior design, the lighting, the seating and the bar were all very fun. We enjoyed a relaxing meal in a modern, quirky space. Our server was very helpful with the menu, we made some special requests as my dining partner had some dietary restrictions and they were very accommodating. The food came quickly and in a convenient order. We started with bread with tomato and olive oil (a must), then the artichokes (slightly different than the typical, they came whole and lightly sauteed), then we asked for a very different plate of thinly sliced zucchini, sun dried tomato and truffle oil with thinly sliced parmesan on top, this may have been my favorite plate. For our "main courses" we chose a well cooked rice with pork with mushrooms that was also very tasty and the ensaladilla rusa. We were nervous to try the new restaurant but were very satisfied with our meal, the place and...
Read moreThe food is ok, we visited a few times during our stay as we were staying close by and sometimes you just go with what is easiest. The aioli with the Potatas Bravas is unfortunately gelatinous and tasteless so that’s a huge miss as I know it is a frequently ordered dish. The worst part is a visit in the evening when we wanted drinks only and to sit outside and were told we had to order food to use those tables. We ordered tomato bread and we were told it wasn’t food as it was just bread but that they would allow us to sit there for now but if someone came and wanted more food, we would need to move inside. This did eventually happen. As paying customers, this service was terrible. In such a great neighborhood, this spot stands out as one that should be down on Las Ramblas catering to tourists only since it is just about money with...
Read moreI'm surprised the average score for this restaurant is not higher. We were meeting a friend and were quite late arriving, the staff were more than happy for her to sit there with a glass of cava and didn't fuss about needing the table back. There are plenty of vegetarian options and they were happy to explain which ones could be made vegan and how. We had patatas bravas (sauce on the side) the potatoes were nice and crispy and the sauces very tasty. Onion tempura was tasty with a nice light crispy batter. And then a fresh tasting quinoa salad. I'm told the cava was also delicious. The service was very friendly. I also liked how each dish came out one by one rather than all at once, it felt like a nice...
