El Pibe | Joan Güell — Restaurant in Barcelona

Currently staying at the Grand Hyatt, which has 3 restaurants of its own while waiting over 20 mins to be served at their upscale Peruvian restaurant, I went on Glovo to see what I could possibly order for delivery because I was hungry.

I’m from Los Angeles and their pictures looked like something I could definitely find back home. I placed my Glovo order to El Pibe before anyone bothered to come check on me at this snobby place haha

When the food arrived, and took my first bite I was impressed at how much it reminded me of something I could find in Los Angeles! This is rare for Europe.

I ordered the Combo Epic Burger & bacon bit cheddar fries. It was soo good it felt like a comfort meal to me and I enjoyed it much more knowing after the lame service of the other place.

I told my friends that have moved here from Los Angeles that they should...

I used come here a lot for their vegan burger but there has since been some updates and now I won’t be coming again (unless it’s for the fries)

There used to be two solid options for vegan burgers, and now there’s only one, and has far less toppings than it used to :(

Also the past two times I’ve been here the bread has been so dry and stale which completely defeats the purpose of eating a burger to me.

I used to not be able eat it quick enough, now I feel uninspired and have to force myself to finish it.

All in all, I feel disappointed since the value for the price is pretty bad. Having said, the fries are amazing...

Enganyen amb l'opció vegana de les hamburgueses.

Ahir vam anar a sopar a aquest establiment donat que presento una al·lèrgia crítica a la proteïna de la llet de vaca i en veure que hi havia opció vegana i pocs cops puc menjar en un lloc així ens va il·lusionar anar-hi. Vaig demanar l'hamburguesa Greenger, ja que aquesta era l'opció vegana i, per tant, en principi, no contenia proteïna animal de cap mena. La sorpresa va ser en començar-la a menjar, vaig haver de parar perquè se'm va començar a unflar la gola i els ulls i el que és pitjor, els pulmons se'm començaven a tapar. Estranyada vaig decidir preguntar a un cambrer que no era el que ens havia atès en un començament. Vaig preguntar-li si l'hamburguesa era 100% vegana i em va contestar que sí, que tota era vegana. En veure com m'estava posant vaig decidir parar de menjar i anar a pagar per tal de córrer cap a urgències. El cambrer que ens va atendre per pagar es va mostrar compassiu i em va demanar perdó tot explicant-me el que havia passat, per això poso dues estrelles i no cap. Em sap greu haver pagat per acabar a urgències. Volíem posar una reclamació, però si esperàvem gaire més la cosa podia empitjorar, i molt. Ens agradaria que si algú demana quelcom vegà, se l'informi que no és vegà (que no haurien d'etiquetar-lo a la carta com a tal, però bé, cadascú sabrà les seues estratègies o mitjans per atreure clientela perquè sinó no m'ho explico).

Ens sap greu perquè pensàvem que havíem trobat un lloc on poder menjar a gust i sense preocupacions, però òbviament no tornarem perquè encara que m'assegurin que ho han canviat, no me'n puc fiar si abans ja m'han enganyat. Si us plau, no enganyeu amb el tema vegà perquè molta gent com jo ho fem per salut, jo sol m'he passat una nit a l'hospital, però el pròxim cop pot ser molt pitjor.
