I’m sorry but this restaurant did not live up to expectations. In the tasting menu there was only one dish that was truly delicious, the fried eggplant with sticky rice. The broth with the oyster was good, the oyster was meh. The dessert was a decent bite of spiced mango but it was just a bite.

Overall most dishes were underseasoned and more concept than flavor. The tuna felt totally unseasoned, like a thin tuna sashimi without dressing. The carbonara wonton was a great idea but needed salt and more lemon rind.

The absence of any written menu complicated choosing a wine. There are some good wines on the list, but when we asked for the menu to understand what we would be pairing with, we were told they couldn’t tell us. We asked if it was more meat or fish and were told it was more meat. Eventually the server got us a menu and it was actually mostly fish. Luckily we saw this before ordering a bottle of wine.

The wine our server suggested, a white Saint-Joseph, was genuinely delicious, unique and matched the description I asked for. If you want a wine pairing, we were told you need to request one when you book (a requirement I’ve never encountered before)

Overall, I do think the ingredients were high quality and the presentation was excellent but a lot of dishes would have improved significantly with more attention to seasoning.

Better organization and better attention to seasoning will make a big difference to this restaurant. I will add I also left a bit hungry. Lighter tasting menus sometimes solve this problem by serving bread. I think Mantis has potential but it needs more attention...

A recent addition to Barcelona's culinary scene, it is already making waves with its unique fusion of Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. This promising restaurant offers a tantalizing menu that showcases the best of both worlds, featuring a diverse range of dishes that blend traditional Asian flavors and ingredients with fresh, locally-sourced Mediterranean produce. Whether you're in the mood for a spicy Sichuan eggplant, or a perfectly broiled cigala with and saffron mayo, Mantis has something to satisfy every palate. The restaurant's cozy and intimate atmosphere, complete with warm lighting and chic green decor, adds to the overall...
