Maranpau — Restaurant in Barcelona

It was my last evening in Barcelona and I wanted to go to a nice restaurant for a meal. Ended up paying 30 euros for a ruined day.

1. I’m a tourist, and only one person in the whole restaurant speaks English.
2. Tables for two are located next to the door, so it’s really cold. People wear their coats inside, which is insane. Putting a space heater is so cheap, but no one cares.
3. I was alone so they sat me in the corner and ignored me for the majority of the evening. I waited about 20 minutes before my order was taken. After finishing salad, sat with dirty plates in front of me for a good 15 minutes.
4. I asked if they could make the paella without octopus and mussels, just prawns, they assured me it won’t be an issue. Brought paella with octopus in it. Told me it’s not their fault and I’m weird for wanting paella without it. Why wouldn’t they tell me they can’t make what I ordered? I would have ordered a vegetable paella and would be happy with it. But no, they brought me a dish with ingredients I specifically asked not to put in it. They either thought I wouldn’t notice, or ignored me, as they did the whole time I was there.

Despite all that, they still charged me 30 euros. Excluded the price of paella, sure, but no apology. I told them they ruined my last evening in Barcelona, but they just blamed it on me. This is ridiculous and shows how they care for their customers (they don’t).

We made a booking through the fork for this place saying that the food is 30%off of the a la carte menu. We sat in the outside area, it was warm and well lit for outside. Our waiter came in and complained why he needs to speak in english. He was very rude the whole time, especially when i chose a bottle of wine for us and he basically said my taste is not good and i do not understand from wine even tho i have a sommelier diploma. Anyways, the food was absolutely average, nothing wow, portions way too small and too overpriced. I wouldn’t come here if it wasn’t for the 30% off, however when we asked for the bill which we waited for 25 minutes. They gave us the bill and we literally got scammed, they are promoting something that is not really true and they faking it. They are removing 30% of each item instead of the whole food bill. So, we basically saved 2€…. Scammers, rude staff, below average...

This was a really bad experience - one of the worst in recent memory. The beers were overpriced for the size. The white wine was so warm that we asked for an ice cube, getting a state from the waitress. The ensaladilla rusa was - well, not ensaladilla rusa. Almost no potatoes, almost no mayonnaise, and “al dente” peas and carrots. We left more than half of it and the staff did not even ask why. The calamares were cold. Full stop. The pulpo was the “best” of the lot, but I would not return for it either. We were still eating the mashed potatoes when two different members of staff tried to remove the plate, we said no, and the second waiter shoved it back so forcefully that it clinked against the water bottle.
