Very bad service! Cons: we waited for 20 min because it was packed, notifying the older waiter. In the meantime, we went for a nice to go deser for later next door. (we recommend it) Coming back we resumed the line as no one else was waiting and a younger waitter saw the package with the desert and rudly said "you can't eat here, we don't allow to eat from other restaurants and sit" We have explained it is obviously to go and we want to dine in... After another 10 minutes the older waiter comes and in an even rudder way says "you wait but will not eat here with that food" Annoyed after the long waiting time, rudeness and the lack of quality service we have reexplained that of course we want to eat, otherwise why the waiting... In the end we left because of this poor client service I advised him to improve.
PS: we spoke in Spanish so no language barrier...
Pros: the food was looking very good TBH and we wanted to try calamari, pimento, etc (4 people) The Plaça de la Vila Gracia is coquet, nice buildings around, young people, not that many tourists, and plenty of other restaurants around the square. People seems to speak English as well around the square as we saw few English speakers.
Conclusion: Try it out if you want to give it a shot but they'd better improve their client service otherwise they will loose many clients, expecially since tourists have options to pick from... Since I live here for some time nerver once I have experienced so bad service and rude people. (people here are quite warm usually since you will pay a consumation,...
Read moreVery slow service. Took a long time to get the waiter's attention. Longer to get our order taken. And took for ever to get the food. We ordered paella and the portions are huge (so are the prices). The waiter suggested 4 portions for my wife and I and our little ones. They brought out two huge pans and we could not even finish one of them. Lots of food went to waste. When it came to pay the lady inside (owner) charged my credit in US dollars without asking. When I confronted her about it, she said, she charged me in my countries currency (none sense). I am not sure how she decided what country I was from before she even have a conversation. A lot of unscrupulous establishment in Barcelona do this because they charge at a very high exchange rate that provides them additional revenue. I consider this cheating the unsuspecting. Most tourist (like myself) don't bother arguing and just sign the bill. But you end up paying extra (the exchange rate they charged me there was 1.5 times street rate). To give credit when is due, the paella was great tasting. We were sorry we could not...
Read moreFood was amazing but unfortunately one staff member refused to speak to us as we had broken Spanish. Was ordering a drink whilst waiting for a table. Was also ignored a long time and locals were seated before us (they did not have reservations). The bar staff member pretended to not understand the word Cava and dismissed me as a tourist. I can only assume he was offended as I can’t speak Catalan. I always try to engage in language when I travel but being from South Africa, am not taught Spanish in education. Another lovely waiter however came up and spoke perfect English to help us.
There are English menus so absolutely do cater for global travellers.
The waiter we had was fabulous… thank you for restoring my desire to want to eat in this restaurant. The place was so busy but they kept the food coming out efficiently and it was delicious.
I would recommend it and advise to ignore rude behaviour that spoil it for other hard working...
