Disappointing and Unpleasant Experience
I have no complaints about the cleanliness or the waitstaff – they were polite and professional. However, everything else about our visit was a disappointment.
My husband and I were very tired and hungry after a long walk, so we were looking for a place to eat. This restaurant was open until 6 PM, and we arrived at 5 PM. However, we were immediately informed that the kitchen was already closed and being cleaned, so we could only choose from what was left.
We ordered three dishes and each got a glass of sangria. While they did mention that getting a liter would be more economical, we didn’t have enough time before closing, so we stuck with a glass each.
To our surprise, they brought us an additional dish we didn’t order, which, of course, was added to the bill. We didn’t argue since we were hungry. When the bill arrived, we paid it quickly and left because the staff was clearly eager to go home – we were the only customers left (5:50 pm).
Only after leaving did I realize they had charged us for two liters of sangria (around €33) instead of the two glasses we had (€13). Since the restaurant was already closed, there was no point in going back to address the issue.
To make matters worse, we both suffered from terrible heartburn all evening. While I know my stomach is sensitive to fried and greasy foods, my husband, who rarely has digestive issues, felt the same.
It was a truly unpleasant experience on our first day in Barcelona. I take responsibility for not double-checking the bill before paying, but with all of these issues, I just cannot give this place a decent rating. Now I always...
Read moreRestaurant had great reviews, but upon entry we were very surprised about the constant loud noises, screaming and overall unpleasent atmosphere of the whole place. Once we were given a seat, at the front of the restaurant right next to the loud kitchen because they couldn't be bothered to set the tables in a quieter place, we were given the menu, which has an overall pretty good choice of food. I also noticed the waiter was just staring at us while we were choosing but it's forgivable and we can chuck that up to him being ready in case we had any questions. Next once we ordered our food and drinks we were greeted by dirty and chipped plates and glasses. Most of it just looked like visual dust, however on one of our plates there was a visual, pretty big crumb of food. We obviously asked to change it, and the waiter angrily turned around and while walking away said "it's clean". Once he came back as he put the plate down you could see him constantly talking to himself which was quite disturbing. Once our food came we noticed that instead of 1 portion of meatballs and 2 grilled chickens there were only one of each. I asked where mine was and he got really angry because we had misunderstood each other while ordering and started saying how we only ordered one. One of us told him that it's okay and we will share but he screamed "No" and once again told us how we only ordered one. He then left. The chicken was very good, and the food is pretty nice and affordable but not...
Read moreLa Salut was a very nice suprise along multitude of disappointment that calls themselves restaurant near the Park Güell. I was on a self planned tour over the Barcelonna cities, and after my visit of the much celebrated Park, my plans for the day was a bit delayed and so I had to find a place to eat nearby. Of course the other tourist traps caught my eyes first as how they were in the vincinities of the Park, but since La Salut was highly rated and only 5 min further than the other Restaurants, I decided to pay the store a visit. I settled for the menu of the days, expecting to be ripped off, but instead of a knife in the gut, I got a whole lot of food there. The Staffs were very Professional and the available meal was deliciously served, even good enough to be considered part of the Park Güell experience as a whole. Since it was a daily menu I can't say that it'll be the same for every day. But the Fried fish in Tomato sauce fits just right with my palate, and the side of russian salad relaxed my fatigued and sunburned body. the Air conditioned tables was also important as most of my time in Barchinona was under the 30°C weather. So all in all La Salut is an Oasis for those who want a hearty meal after a long day exploring and enjoying the Park Güell, and for a fair price. I recommend the daily Menu and although they aren't readily shown, it's a full course with refreshment. Would revisit if I've...
