My partner and I dined at Vereda Bar for the very first time last weekend and little did we know that we were in for such a huge treat. The restaurant is brand new and the decor is fresh and delicate, with a nice added touch of fresh flowers on each table.
We asked for some guidance when choosing the plates and the staff was very knowledgeable in describing where the products were locally sourced from, as well as explaining how the dishes were prepared. We learned that not only were the products high quality and fresh, but everything on the menu comes from local Catalan producers, including all wines featured on the list.
We tried the cheese plate, buñuelos, baby carrots, crispy potatoes, and sirloin skewer, with a side of sourdough bread and olive oil. For dessert we tried the chocolate mousse with sea salt and olive oil, as well as the shortbread with strawberries and fresh whipped cream. For wine pairings, we tasted two ancestral wines, though we opted for a punchier selection, as well as a lush red from the Terra Alta region.
It’s hard to say which of the food, wine and dessert was the star dish because everything was carefully paired with uniquely selected herbs and garnishes. The baby carrots feature a reduction sauce that combines cold-pressed carrot juice with orange zest and is simmered for 2 hours minimum. The sirloin skewer was garnished with finely chopped fennel, tomato, onion and fresh herbs. And the olive oil has the same quality and taste as fresh-pressed olive oil that comes from a family farm.
The menu changes frequently according to what’s freshly available from the local producers. I highly recommend paying this lovely locale a visit. It’s the kind of food that turns every morsel into a pleasurable delicacy and will win over the most epicurean of hearts.
Thanks for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back for more...
Read moreA solid 4/5 in my opinion. Bottom line: It was fine but I'm not sure if I will come back. Had high expectations as I wanted to check this place out for a long time.
Went spontaneously on a Friday evening (3rd March) around 10 pm. The place is quite busy so it is better to make a reservation.
Food: Was good but not outstanding. The best dish for me was the sweet potato one. I also recommend the Tortilla de patatas and eggplant. We also ordered some bread for the tortilla which was good but for 3 slices almost 4 EUR (too much imo)..? The entrecote was medium rare (or rather rare). They could have asked us what we prefer. The meat was a bit too chewy, and two pieces were basically just fat. For 28.50 I would have expected a bit more tbh.
Wines: They focus on natural wines which honestly I am not a fan of. At least they had one conventional white which was okay.
Service: Was quick and friendly butt we did not really have any interactions. During our meals and when we paid, the waiter did not ask if we were satisfied or mentioned a thank you for coming at the end. This is something very basic and should be a must at such places.
Atmosphere: I really liked the interior and vibe of the place. The kitchen was open which is cool. Bathrooms upstairs were clean too.
Price: In my opinion, a bit too pricey but still okay. For 2 persons incl. 4 or 5 glasses of white wine, we paid around 95 EUR (without dessert, coffee, and water!). At this price level I would...
