Small average hotel with 2 star facilities masquerading as a 4 star ond. I just stayed there for half a day and I realised the hotel is absolutely average. |Rooms are pretty small with uncomfortable bed which will move with slight movement. They literally have basin in room and an open rod to han clothes- and while you wash your hands and face, water will definitely spill on your clothes hanging. Bathroom is really inconvenient. ||Coming to staff I was told that we take card security as what if you take tv controller with you or what if you eat everything from mini bar and run without paying- this is how they talk to guests. May be because of their average hotel, they only get such cheap clientele who will run away after eating from their 3rd class mini bar. They will even stop you while you re enter your hotel and will ask you your room number, name etc because eventually they dont have card security in lift and so (i am assuming security reasons), they will stop guests on every entry and ask details- this is really cheap. |On checking out, I told the receptionist that I have taken a bottle of water from mini bar to drink and i would like to pay for that in cash (without even him asking if you had anything); to which I was told that its fine you dont need to pay and i asked again whether you will deduct from my card as i dont want that so take whatever amount is needed. And then after a day they deducted amount for a bottle of water from my card which they took for security- like seriously??? Why to pretend being generous then do these cheap things? When I was willing to pay upfront why to deduct from my card without informing me?? (I already paid city tax in cash during check in as i avoid minute hassle).||All in all very average experience and there are many other options to choose from...
Read moreThe Gran Via BCN is wonderfully located in a clean and safe neighborhood centrally located. About a 10 minute taxi ride from cruise port. We arrived around 0940 and had no problem having our luggage stored until our room was ready in the afternoon. We were greeted by the amazing Kenia. So kind and patiently directed us to the metro (5 minute walk) that took us to Sagrada Família Basílica where we had 1040 reservations. She also provided us with maps and telephone numbers making our day less stressful. In the evening, helpful Liam provided us with directions to a laundry 4 block walk from the hotel. There are many restaurants and cafes around this hotel within a 2 block radius. The cafe across the street was excellent for breakfast. If you feel adventurous try the baby octopus at a nearby restaurant. Do yourself a favor and spend some time at the small outdoor pool area. So inviting and quiet. A great place to take a drink from the bar and relax. The rooms are very clean and the bed very comfortable and had a concise but spacious layout. Our room overlooked the street and was very quiet. The shower was large and you could choose rain head or handheld shower. It was nice to have a small refrigerator and safe. Be aware the water is a charge item. The water in Barcelona is safe to drink and I had no issues. There is also a convenience store 1 block walk that has drinks and snacks. This was an excellent choice for our overnight stay in Barcelona and the Wi-Fi was very good. Very warm and welcoming atmosphere. I would not hesitate to...
Read moreim a catalonia member, my wife and i travel to cancun every year to a different catalonia ( they have 5) this year is not the exception. but also we got to visit Europe and Catalonia hotels didn't disappointed. from the front desk people alway ready to help with a big smile , the breakfast, the warm welcom and the chick room with a balcony with amazing views of gran via. we got a welcome bottle and some chocolates as catalonia rewards members and we enjoy every minute in this hotel. we were on a road trip around spain we were able to park the car just one block away in a public gargae for $30 a day ( not too bad for barcelona prices) just fyi most garages are closed on sundays so make sure you check. the metro station is in the corner 3 min walk. a argentinan empanadas and italian restarant just down the road for a quick bite not too far from the hotel, also a mini mart just steps form the hotel. the location was great, the room amazing breakfats has everything you need to start your day with energy. a 100% recommend this hotel price/ location is a great hotel to stay.
