Chiringuito Kalifato — Restaurant in Benalmádena

Visited twice in one day as it was situated in a lovely little spot on the beach. We visited the beach during the day and popped in for a drink and then later my son returned for another and was able to sit at a table in the shade. On the evening we passed on our way back to our hotel and once again stopped for a drink as at night all lit up it looked wonderful. Both times though when we asked for just drinks they didn't seem to interested a nd service was a little slow, more so on the evening when it didn't seem busy and had plenty of staff. Only stayed for one drink and bill was €13 paid with a €20 note and had to ask for my change after 5 minutes. Started with drinks. Had to ask 4 times for a straw. Ordered prawn pil pil and side of fries. Fries came out. Waited a good 5 minutes but no sign of prawns. Had to complain that they had gone cold whilst waiting. So they sent them back. 5 minutes later prawn come out. Smallest portion we have seen all fortnight, not very hot and no bread roll included. Everywhere else we have had this dish on this holiday has had bread included. This was also most expensive so far. None of waiting staff asked us if we would like any condiments with the meal either. Don’t know what’s gone wrong with this please, it used to be my favorite, but I can’t even give one star today. We were 3 adults and a baby. We waited 40 mins for a salad, we had to ask for it twice, and after the wrong salad was thrown at the table, we had to wait another 15 mins for a tomato and onion to be chopped and thrown on another plate. The boquerones and calamares - WOW - I have never had them so bad. Tasteless and swimming in oil.
