To start they provided Bread appetisers, some toasted others not served with olive oil but not balsamic vinegar for dipping which was just odd.
They comped us some prawn and yoghurt dish, a nice gesture but again raw prawns not for the kids and only 2 dishes were eaten.
The food was OK and limited selection. Meal included baked potato and lettuce as accompaniments but very few side options if these didn't suit you.
The service was possibly the worst I have encountered.
The staff were polite but disorganised, drinks orders were wrong, no coke, only pepsi, next round; coke was provided, no pineapple juice; next round bottles of pineapple juice were available. Gin and lemonade no ice became gin and tonic with glass full of ice... just poor attention to orders.
Also, no drinks menu other than wine list, so again limited to what was our default choice, beer and coke. And no idea what the price was, which was evident at the final bill: one main course, 1 drink per adult ( 2 beers, 2 gins) and soft drinks for 3 kids, came to just shy of €300. El local, con mucha elegancia. Mesas amplias, cubertería exquisita, recambio de servicio con cada plato, aceites de Jaén (variedad picual muy sabrosas), pan de masa madre hecho en casa… genial.
Antonio a la cabeza del servicio, grandísimo profesional. Conoce todo lo que propone y pone en mesa. Elegante a la par que cercano y con muuuucha mano izquierda. Sabe llevar la sala a la perfección. Si puedo aconsejar algo, es que os dejéis guiar por la selección de vinos. Sabe equilibrar muy bien los caldos que ofrece con el presupuesto.
Y ahora la comida, que es lo importante. No hay ningún plato que hayamos probado que no esté de muy bueno a excelente. Las elaboraciones están muy cuidadas y perfectamente presentadas. Platos muy bien presentados y sobretodo equilibrados en sabores.
La sopa fría de pistachos con cuajo de leche y tomate es para comerse un cubo. La ensalada de tomate con atún. Otra pasada. Las carnes de retinto que traen las trabajan a la maravilla en la brasa. La vwntresca de atún es increíble como lo ponen. El arroz con presa muy sabroso y equilibrado Symo. Las setas, las berenjenas con huevo rotos y jamón… y así hasta los postres que no hacen más que coronar una gran comida.
En serio, es de esos sitios que merece la pena...
