I am an Indian. Born and brought up in India. I have been living in the UK for 21 years. We were on holiday and I must say that we were lucky that we discovered this place on the first night itself. If you want proper Indian food made from scratch every day, then this is the place. Freshness, taste, service, politeness all you can ask for was amazing. The entire team is from North India. Rishipal went above and beyond in making sure we were served the best food and in best possible way. It was so good and local to where we were staying that we had our every nighttime meal there. There was no chance we could go anywhere else. We tried different foods during the day when we were out and about and nothing came close be it Chinese, italian or even indian. They make paneer from scratch every day, just like in India. Lamb was so soft it melted in mouth. Dal makhani, daal tadka, roti all was super delicious and cooked to perfection. Garlic naan using fresh garlic and parantha was awesome. You won't get better Indian food (or any food to be honest) than this in the entire area. If you are in that area, don't miss it. Thank you to the entire team who have the ability to cook and deliver as per your requirement mild, medium, hot whatever way you want and whichever dish . Great. For example, no fix rule that Madras will be hot only. Prices very reasonable. No one in UK can make that quality unfortunately. Will...
Read moreHad a light lunch here with my wife. Opted for the mixed tandoori starter for 2, garlic naan and a bhuna sauce, pint of lager, large glass of wine and bottle of water. The dish was a good sized portion with plenty of chicken, lamb and kofta kebab meat on a bed of onions and peppers. There was also a single whole prawn which as it’s a sharing platter would have made more sense had been 2 prawns but as I said it was a generous portion. The nann bread was lovely thin and moist. The bhuna sauce was rich, spicy and very tasty. As the restaurant had just opened we were the only customers so hence the middle of the road atmosphere score. The restaurant is well positioned and I would imagine at peak times would have a good atmosphere. Rishi who served us was very good, attentive and engaging. I will be returning shortly to sample the lamb Rogan Josh, which has been recommended. The meal set us back around 30 euro. They do a meal deal (not sure of the time restrictions) which is very well priced with good options of starters and chicken mains with sides of rice and nann accompanied by a bottle of wine if 2 people are dining for a...
Read moreI hardly know where to begin with this one. Having read several recent reviews, I expected, at the very least, a decent meal. Having dined in numerous Indian restaurants across the UK, Europe, and Australia, I believe I’m a fair judge of Indian cuisine.
The limited menu should perhaps have been a warning. Hoping to play it safe, I ordered a chicken Rogan Josh and a lamb curry. The poppadoms and pickle tray were very enjoyable, as was the garlic naan.
However, I queried the Rogan Josh, asking where the tomatoes, onions, and spices were, and suggested that it appeared to have been prepared in a liquidiser. I was astonished to be told that it had been. The lamb curry was similarly disappointing – the texture was more akin to a paste than a curry.
The waiter was very pleasant, and I paid the bill and left quietly. If your preference is for liquefied or paste-like curries, then this may be the place for you — but sadly, it wasn't for me....
