Nice enough restaurant but really is a case of style over substance. They seem to be coasting on their long running reputation. Waiter was a pleasant guy but didn’t write our order down as is the way in many restaurants and so forgot our side dishes. Food tasted very nice but not as good as we had been led to believe it was. To finish off a pleasant but average evening the waiter managed to dump a load of olive oil in my lap ruining a lovley pair of £200 trousers. I was offered a stain removing wipe which didn’t work and left me to walk back to the hotel looking like I’d wet myself. Not even an offer of a free coffee or drink. Fairly pricey for average food and service although the restaurant building and interior is very unique.
I’d like to add a further note since you replied to my review. The accident was not my fault it was entirely the fault of the waiter. He dropped the lid of the olive oil pot into my lap as he was clearing the plates. As for the generous tip that we left, we always tip as we know for a fact that service industry staff rely on their tips. The meal had been ok/average, not awful, therefore we left a nice tip but I would like to reiterate it was not my fault at all it was entirely the fault of the waiter, I certainly wouldn’t have mentioned it if it was my fault. You say you checked with your entire dinning room staff well the only person waiting on the table was the waiter who dropped the olive oil in my lap, no one else was working on the first floor as there was only us and another table of two people. As for me being ‘invited’ this was actually my family. My brother paid, but what difference would this make? Yes we laughed because we could not believe what had just happened. What would you want me to do? I find your reply insulting and totally incorrect.
