Arte+Nata — Restaurant in Córdoba

We discovered this place by taking a slightly wrong turn, but oh how fortunate that turned out to be! The Portuguese tarts here are a work of art - the pastry is light and delicate with a superb crunchy texture, and the custard cream is velvety smooth with a slightly caramelized top, reminiscent of crème brûlée. Eating one of these while standing in the beautiful ancient city of Cordoba was truly a sublime experience. We returned later to buy more as one was just not enough! Absolutely must visit this hole in the wall. Came across Arte+Nata by chance, doing our own thing wandering alleyways, what a find simply the best Pastel de Nata! crispy, light layers of pastry, a beautifully balanced custard within, the owner is genuine and incredibly humble. We made a point of going again the next day after we visited the Mezquita, bought our pastel de nata and cafe con leche, of up the lane and there is a small square with public bench seats shaded by orange trees - can’t get much...

I’ve travelled a lot all over and tasted Pastel de Nata in many many places I only buy them if they look like they will be a 8/10 or more. These ones were 10/10. Perfection! Perfect amount of custard and the crispiest pastry. Also the owner pastry chef is a delight. Well done.
