CASA ANITA — Restaurant in Cadaqués

This restaurant is overrated. We were advised this place by different sources and don’t understand why.

The food is ok/good The atmosphere is family and cozy but the room is pretty dark even at lunch time like in a tavern/pub The staff is friendly The ordering experience was bad and weird: Joan the owner is over-friendly till he orally lists you the menu (with no price). You have to remember what he said and make you choice on the spot while he is sat and waiting. You can’t get a written menu to make your choice peacefully and order wisely: to balance your meal, to check the price for food, to discuss with the others to share and taste the dishes. When you ask one, he tells you it is a matter of trust. OK 😳 The price is a surprise: unknown till you want to pay. 70€ for 2 with starter, main course, water and a glass of wine for each.

Trust needs to get earned and this first (and last)...

Even though owner is trying to be charming we didnt really liked approach that is a bit arrogant. We tried to explain that we are very familiar with fish since we are coming from Adriatic sea but with no luck ;) we were given 2 fishes that they had to offer that were made i guess in oven (grill would be for sure better option) with pommes frites that were ok but far from excellent. Lovely family owned restaurant in a magical Cadaques cave home romantically lit with candles. The menu changes based on what is available locally. We were welcomed by the owner and his wife who even offered a vegetarian option including truffles, yum! Don’t miss this tiny gem!
