Can't say enough great things about this place. We arrived without a reservation (thank you hotel desk people who said we probably did not need one) and the place was full already at 8 pm. The people who run the place (really nice) offered to seat us in the corner of the bar by the window where they had been eating 45 minutes earlier. Could not have been happier. Alone in the bar, away from all the other diners. Like we were in our own kitchen with a waiter and chef just for us.
Then came the food! Had appetizers and 2 basic pasta dishes. Ordered the garlic and oil spaghetti based on the recommendation of a regular who was coming in to pick up take-out. 10/10 for that one. Also had home made ravioli with pesto that was so fresh it was excellent. Two courses of food, a bottle of wine and it cost 42 Euros. Unbelievable. A dinner like this in the States would have been over $100 (in the Boston area). Cash only!!!
The waiter was part of the owner family and we chatted a little. One bonus sitting in the bar is we could hear the music playing on their sound system the bar and kitchen seemed to be listening to....they were playing relatively obscure music from John Scofield (Uberjam) that I knew well so I chatted with the waiter about that also. Pretty unusual music to have playing at a little Italian restaurant in a fishing...
Read morePasta was great, but I have been there before two times in the past 7 years and had very high expectations which were not fulfilled. We had reserved a table for 21:30 which was not available at the time so we came back a few minutes later. As the table was still not available, we were seated at another table (sadly not at all as pretty as the other one). At some point the waiter asked us to order as the kitchen would close soon. This was kind of sad, I had planned to order two rounds of pasta (portions are good, however you can definitely enjoy two if you are hungry). Due to all the delay, the restaurant was empty once we had finished the pasta and the staff started to clean. For eating the desserts, we felt kind of obligated to hurry up. Service was very nice though!
Still, we will come back and hope that they handle reservations...
Read moreOne of the best places price/quality ratio in Cadaqués. They have consistently held on a winning formula: very good, yet simple, pasta dishes, with some antipasti to open up your apetite. Despite this proven model and great success they are still charging very little compared to other restaurants in the area. They know where they stand. This is not haute cusinne, just a place to get some good food for a reasonable price.
The restaurant is small, best for couples or a group of 4, max 8 people. In any case you should book in advance, like two weeks in advance to be sure.
A reliable spot where you'll always get what you have come for. The service is competent and friendly, which is quite rare in a touristic village like Cadaqués.
Try out also some of the deserts, homemade and a very good way to end the night at...
