we showed up and didn’t have a reservation but still got sat, which was nice since the restaurant was booked up for the next month. unfortunately we werent even acknowledged until we sat for about 10 minutes, and the restaurant wasnt even full at that point.

We ended up ordering the tasting menu consisting of 10 dishes and 3 desserts. in terms of food, the presentation was nice but the flavors seemed disjointed together. dishes felt like they just pulled ingredients out of a hat and didnt even taste it before serving. a lot of it seemed forced, simply for the sake of it being experimental or different. theres so many amazing restaurants in cadaques, for example restaurant marina around the corner (go there if you have time).

this was the most expensive meal ive had in spain and i was expecting to have the best meal of my life here, but it was nothing close to that. my favorite part of the meal was the banana shaped bowl one of the desserts was served in and the still water was good (ended up ordering 3 bottles just to wash the flavors out of our mouths). to be honest id prefer a scoop of gelato from any of the countless places in the area.

but maybe we just got a bad tasting menu…i wish anyone going here well. i think the individual dishes may be better considering not many people ordered the tasting menu and seemed to enjoy...

We were looking forward to eating at Compartir as all the recommendations we got so far in Cadaqués were fantastic. Es Baluard, Narita and Tella. But we honestly were underwhelmed at Compartir. All the dishes we took missed of a kick and sometimes balance. Some dishes seemed to be a missed creative attempt, coming with clumsy sweet/savory associations. The fish croquetas was disarmingly weird. We knew that something was going wrong in the restaurant when our main courses didn’t arrive at the same time. My girlfriend’s dish arrived 4 minutes before mine and as she had scallops, it needed to be eaten warm. She also said that she was vegetarian and these scallops were coming with Chicken juice, which wasn’t notified on the menu. Then my pork tenderloin arrived later and it wasn’t served hot enough. As we were already at 110€, we preferred having an ice cream at Joia. I usually don’t rate restaurants but I feel line that the recent reviews given to this restaurant are not representative of our experience at all. If you are looking for a creative, delicious and not off putting cuisine, Narita will...

Excellent service with very polite and friendly staff.

The food however was extremely disappointing. The mango and coconut curry sauce oyster was good and the banana dessert with yogurt, cookie, and lime was also great. The sardines with vanilla, raspberries and pistachio doesn’t make any sense. The flavours are completely off and extremely detached. The croquettas that were supposed to be cod were filled with way too much garlic and served with honey vanilla sauce? Like why? I am not getting what the Chef is trying to do between savoury and sweet. It is not working. The disaster was also the anchovies that are the saltiest thing you can ever taste. The tuna was ok but tasteless if you do not mix welll with the sauce and it was unseasoned.

I know Compartir is a big name and I am sure they will come back strong but I didn’t have a good experience but that also doesn’t mean whoever is reading this review will as well. Give the place a try and I am sure they will come...

Two of us dined at Compartir (means to share) last night. What a lovely experience. The service was excellent. I was unsure which wine I wanted to order so our server brought the two from which I was choosing for me to taste them. We ordered four dishes to share. The tuna sashimi with roe was amazing. Delicate and yet packed with bright flavours. The crab and avocado also very good. The leeks, bacon and mushroom dish was scrumptious. We also had a dish described as Coquille st Jacques but it was more of a deconstructed dish with scallops and potatoes cooked perfectly. We finished the evening with cardamom ice cream with strawberries. So good! The atmosphere was lovely with fireplaces around the patio and lots of greenery too. The service provided by Thor and Daniella was second to none. If you get a chance try to dine here but best to make a reservation as it is popular!
