Hotel Esplai is part of the local Eco Hotels group with three or four properties in the area. We stayed in a family room with one double and two singles, there isn't much room for anything else! The room is very basic, there is a good sized tv but no international channels, not even good old BBC World. Bathroom again basic and you need a physics degree to work out how to turn on the lights. There is air con in the room but it takes ages to cool and is quite noisy. The food is what you would expect from an all inclusive resort, burgers and chips galore, loads of salad but sadly limited seafood options. Drink options are good and served until 23:30. There's no entertainment in the hotel and you need to go to nearby Hotel Bon Repos in the evening, on the whole the animacio team are good but there is a magic show called Mag Magic which uses animals as part of its act, sadly I fear for the welfare of the animals and hope that the hotel stop engaging this act in the near future! Overall if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful to put your head down then this is the place for you, we got a room on the 6th floor (top floor) which was great as its far awsy from the rowdy reception and a great sea view, if you want luxury look elsewhere,

Lovely hotel, nice escape from English weather, what a bleak August it's been, beautiful sunshine all week, met some lovely English and Spanish people over there, food was lovely, staff was great, the only downside to the hotel is no kettle in rooms, I wish I'd stayed longer but work commitments get in the way, you get what you pay for its nice when you get there, long queues for breakkie and dinner, evening meal and short amount of sunbeds for how many ppl are staying, get theyre first, beach lovely, town well looked after but be aware spainish ppl like to come out at night when it's too hot so when you wanna go to sleep and you're there at the weekend s just hope that you don't go home tired bcus it has a lot of noise from the nightclub near the hotel with teenage party goers. Nice break ok for families, very busy, but good for me as I needed 2 distress and relax. In Callela there's lots to do and explore,so you don't have to stay in the hotel if you do go all inclusive but make sure in this hot and humid heat you don't get bit by the mozzies at night time.

Where to begin the food is awful there is no disabled access we were not notified of this my mother in law has struggled all holiday. No ball games allowed in the pool but yet other families were allowed not allowed to play your own music endless you have headphones even tho we were told it is OK and all other guests were enjoying it. Over all can't complain about my room that's why I give 2 stars if the room was bad I'd give 1. No entertainment you need poker chips to get drinks if you give 1 you only get one drink and have to take back you empty cup for your chip. I see the point but it is a lot of hassle especially when other people are taking your cups and stealing your chips. You can tell reception you lost a chip but a bit of a pain. Wouldn't come here again.

Hotel Esplai||Google review summary||3.1||1,097 reviews||5 ★ ||4 ★ ||3 ★ ||2 ★ ||1 ★ ||Reviews on other travel sites||||ZenHotels.com||8.2/10 · 2 reviews||Reviews||Search reviews||||Natalie Robson||1/5||just now on Google||I am devastated that I have worked all year to pay for this holiday. The staff are rude and impolite except for the cleaners who are lovely. The bar staff are extremely impatient, and ignorant, you seem to be inconveniencing them when trying to be served as they are too busy eating each others face. If you have decided to go all inclusive and intend to stay at the hotel all day by the pool be prepared to wait an hour in line for a sunbed and even then you need to stay within eyeshot as it will be taken if your not careful. The pool area is dirty and tiles are missing from the pool. By the end of the day the bins are over flowing and rubbish is scattered everywhere. On our first day a young lad was rushed to hospital due to slipping on the pool ladders which resulted in him needed stitches. There are 3 ladders to the pool but all are unstable, 2 are unusable. The jacuzzi must only be used if your vaccines are up to date, the water is cloudy and discoloured. The rooms are absolutely disgusting, broken beds, dirty curtains, leaking toilets. The room has a terrace however it is unusable as the air-conditioning unit is out there kicking off immense heat. The entertainment is an absolute joke, two lasses dancing for 30 minutes by the pool side to the same sound track everyday. On a night the same two girls doing the same in what is classed as the bar. Once again though only one serving and most of the time what you want is off so your stuck with the same drink. No air-conditioning in the bar so you can't sit comfortably. Now let's talk about the food if you can call it that. It is shocking, inedible in fact. We have all been struck by the trots due to it, its under or over cooked. My son got a boiled egg which was black inside. You have to queue for about 30 minutes to be seated and then your met with a buffet which is not fit for a dog. The people are rude and appear to hate the British. They constantly give you sly looks, they will not acknowledge your presence unless your in the shops and they follow you round like your shop lifting. If you do leave your room you must go to reception on your return to get your key card recharge as it won't work. If you ask why it isn't working, its your fault as apparently this card must not touch anything so God knows where your ment to put it. One thing for sure I would not advise anyone to stay here nor come to Callela as it is as rough as toast. 3 star rated hotel is a joke and I don't understand how it has...

During the first two days of our stay we left our purse and wallet in the hotel room while we relaxed by the pool on the resort, only myself and the hotel staff had a card to access the room, so we believed it was secure and safe, during this time we had €45 stolen by the cleaners, €20 from my partners wallet on the first day, €25 from my purse the following. We reported this to the manager and it took 3 days for him to come back to us with a response. He told us we “should have paid for the safe, (he) trusts his staff and there’s nothing (he) can do about it”, we explained how upon check in we were not informed that you could pay to use a safe in the wardrobe and that it implies his employees can’t be trusted. After a lot of back and forth I felt anxious and deflated because I was being completely shutdown when trying to get a solution. The deputy manger informed us during our 3 day wait to hear from the manager that the hotel had insurance to cover theft, the manager then told me “no we don’t, she’s lying”, due to our broken trust we haven’t felt we can have access to clean towels/bedding etc because we don’t want to risk being stolen from again, so we have been reusing the same two towels for the remaining 4 days of our stay as the cleaners have access to the rooms when we eating breakfast. The shower water doesn’t get warm and there’s water leak marks all over the ceiling, the wardrobe doors are broken and jammed and the safe is a flimsy box with no key which we only found out on our last day we had to pay for. The food is the same every day and they reheat food for breakfast from the evening before eg. Chicken nuggets and the majority of plates and cutlery are dirty. We requested for an extra pillow twice and never received it. We are leaving the resort very unhappy and untrusting of Hotel Esplai again. We are very disappointed in the dishonesty and lack of...

Transfer coach doesn’t drop you at the hotel so had to walk down the road and round the corner with hand luggage and cases n carrying a sleeping 6 year at 3am. I was with my in-laws, 2 children and partner yet they put us in a room as 3 and 3, they had no other room and I wasn’t not having my children in with me so I hade to share with my 6 year old in a single bed for 10 nights. Shower trickled out but the room was cleaned and towels changed everyday. Maid did just walk in once and took the keycard out once too so my aircon went off, I had to find her to get it back. I paid enough for this holiday so if I want the air con left on I should be able to. |Not enough sun loungers and people queuing from 7.30 even though the pool doesn’t open till 9, we only ever had 3 beds even though there was 6 of us and on our last day the reception man removed our towels off 2 bed and threw them onto one, I’d only gone for breakfast. |If you didn’t get to breakfast, lunch n dinner early you had to queue, plates were often dirty and tables not cleaned after the last person. Food was ok if you wasn’t fussy, we found something we liked. Daytime food was never there ready for you, you had to ask for chips and they would only do a small amount, would serve about 3 people, same with the hotdogs n burgers. |Bar in the day was good and fast but in the evening slow. |Evening entertainment was ok, nothing to rave about but ok for kids. |To top it all off my sons £600 Apple Watch was taken from the room, when I asked reception the 2 staffed raised there eyebrows at each other n just took my details and I’ve heard nothing. We tracked the watch and it was in the...
