El Boquerón de Plata — Restaurant in Calp

We visited the restaurant yesterday. I am confused on my review. Why? We were offered outside or inside. We chose inside. We sat and after a while, while we were looking at the menu, they offered to change us the table. We chose the menu of €30/person. The menu is moderately bad for my taste. The starters were all cold plates. The main dish was fine. The desert was average.

The noise was excessive and the pop/rap music is not appropriate for the restaurant's style. Maybe I get it wrong.

€30/person menu for what we got, is expensive for a Mediterranean country. I have paid more expensive menus, but the restaurant should revise it's menu and maybe change the temperature on the 🦐 🦐 🦐 offered as starter. Maybe serve them half pealed (?) Maybe change the soup with a hotter one?

It's summer. But, when people want to eat food, can not eat ice cream soup for...

The staff has poor skill of the English language, so it was not easy to communicate that both our courses were not meeting our expectations. Especially for a restaurant that has (at the moment of writing) a score of 4,2/5. I had the 'gambas con ajillo' and the shrimps (I expect gamba's but that's ok) were fully cooked through, the colour, taste and mouthfeel (bite) was missing. We awkwardly told this to the waiter who wasn't pleased but offered us another look at the menu. Which we kindly declined since the damage was already done. The 'pulpo a la gallega' had the same issues, even the potatoes! In the end they didn't make us pay for the "gamba's" but the so called pan con ajillo (just 2 small pre baked bread pieces with some kind of garlic...

Día 08/08 Comida excepcional al igual que la atención especialmente gracias a Erika por su amabilidad y atención estando pte en todo momento. Además al pedir el postre (muy bueno la crema catalana y la tarta de queso) nos invitaron al flan ya que al final no lo habíamos pedido. Volveremos por la atención y la calidad.

Como me gustó mucho envíe y recomendé el sitio a conocidos que además fueron a comer para conocer el sitio. Hoy día 06/09 quise repetir y reservé para comer a través de la aplicación the Fork como hice la otra vez. Reservé la comida a las 15:45 ya que tenía otros planes antes y no podía llegar antes. Recibí el correo de confirmación y en la aplicación todo ok. Mi sorpresa fue que llegando al sitio después de tenerlo planificado recibí un correo en el que ponía que si me había olvidado de ir o de anular la reserva. Deje a mi mujer igualmente en la puerta estando 5 minutos antes mientras aparcaba para ver por qué me llegó el correo. Nos dijeron que la cocina cerrada a las 16:00 horas y que nuestra reserva era a las 15:15. Cosa que no era cierta ya que en el correo ponía las 15:45 y así se lo mostró mi mujer. Se disculparon sin más diciendo que lo sentían y que me habían llamado para hablar con nosotros. Efectivamente me habían llamado a las 14:00 horas pero no porque llegase tarde sino que imagino que para modificar la hora ellos por su interés. No contesté ni devolví la llamada primero porque estaba en la playa y no lo vi, segundo porque era un teléfono que no conocía y luego era un número de Rumanía. Además siendo a las 14:00 la llamada tampoco asocie que era de la reserva ya que la tenía confirmada por la aplicación. Adjunto las fotos de la reserva y del correo con la hora y confirmación por su parte. Además siguen ofreciendo esa hora para reservar y si luego la cocina cierra a las 16:00 y no atienden que la eliminen...
