KPLATS Gastrobar — Restaurant in Calp

We were a family party of 4 looking for something special to mark the last evening of our short stay in Calpe. And so to KPLATS. We were warmly welcomed and ushered to our table by a friendly young lady with a ready smile like the sun breaking through clouds on a gloomy afternoon. She set the scene for the rest of the night…. We opted for the 7 course “tasting menu” with hope tempered by apprehension. But as the courses proceeded, each introduced and fully explained by a member of the friendly table staff, our wonder grew, and when the flow was over we realised that this had been not just a meal but a totally new eating experience for us all. There had been logic, suitable variety, and comfortable pacing to the sequence but no written definition could do the dishes justice. They have to be tried. The ambience of the restaurant at full capacity was pleasingly hospitable, the staff showing no pressure delivering 7 individual courses to so many diners. Finally, I must make special mention of the wine waiter (sommelier?) who encouraged me to taste each of the 3 identically-labelled bottles we ordered. Quite the proper thing to do but not something I have experienced in any but the very best restaurants. KPLATS earns our thanks for a dining experience we shall...

Quite the discovery!

Situated in the upper floor of a building close to the old town this is a small restaurant with about 20 to 30 seats. Unfortunately it's indoor seating only, but with all windows open it feels like a terrace.

The food delivered is outstanding, especially considering the price. Our first time there we ordered the tasting menu which gives an impression of the various dishes they create.

Taste is on par with the best in the region (including the Michelin starred restaurants) and there is really a lot of potential.

It could do with a bit more concept in the tasting menu to connect the different dishes better and deliver a reasoning why everything is as it is, add maybe a wine / cocktail flight and then this restaurant could go a lot of places.

Service is fast and organized. Wine list is quite short, could do with a better selection - we opted for cocktails, which were very nice.

Value for money is absolutely top!

Kplats restaurant in Calpe is an absolute gem for foodies visiting the area. From the moment we stepped in, the owner's warm and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. He sat with us, brimming with enthusiasm, and passionately explained the menu and all of the options. It was heartwarming to see how patient and encouraging he was when we practiced our Spanish with him.

And oh boy, the food! It was an explosion of flavors and diversity. Each dish in the tasting menu was a masterpiece, leaving us wanting more with every bite. To top it off, their cocktails were out of this world, adding a delightful touch to our dining experience.

The vibe inside was effortlessly cool and laid-back, making it a perfect spot to relax and indulge in a memorable meal. If you're in Calpe, don't miss the chance to visit Kplats. It's an experience that will leave your taste buds singing with joy.
