SEMSA BEACH Sea & Lounge. — Restaurant in Calp

I have been a regular customer of this beach cafe for the past two years until yesterday!

I advise the owners to explain to some staff members what client service is and how to interact with guests. Sandra yesterday did not control her tone when she kicked me out of the restaurant and demonstratively CANCELLED my food order that I had already placed. The reason was that she did not like my top and claimed that according to the café’s rules, I was not allowed to wear it. She brought me a flyer with an illustration of restrictions, showing a swimsuit. I explained that I was wearing a crop top, not a swimsuit top, and that I was on a business lunch, not coming from the beach, but my arguments seemed insufficient to her, and she asked me to leave the cafe (I should note that we were already drinking beverages and waiting for food at that moment).

I am attaching a photo of my outfit to avoid being too wordy. I was wearing a shirt but took it off because it was +35°C outside, and the café's air conditioning was not working. I also want to add that I had worn this crop top many times at your café before. Additionally, I was not sitting on the couch with pillows, but at a table on a chair (just preempting any comments about hygiene and sunscreen). There were also many people around (on cushions) in tops with exposed shoulders (and in swimsuits underneath, by the way), but this was also not a valid argument for Sandra.

Despite my love for this place, I will never come back and will not recommend it! Because a restaurant is not just about good food! It’s about the atmosphere! People come for a good mood, not to be publicly and...

One of our companions has a gluten allergy. We called before we went to the restaurant to ask if they have gluten free options. They told us: "Yes, we have". When we arrived to the restaurant we asked for those options and they told them to us. My companion made a choice, asking one more time if it's completely gluten-free. They told us "yes, it's gluten free". Barely 10 minutes after the visit my companion got an allergic reaction and became very sick due the fact that the restaurant did put ingredients that contain gluten into the "gluten free" meal. I called the restaurant to provide them with the information that my companion is very sick. They told me that the owner(s) of the restaurant will call me back.

There was no excuse, no phone call back from the restaurant/owner(s).

We arrived without a booking for lunch….8 adults, 3 young children and a baby. They could not have been more welcoming and moved tables and chairs around to accommodate us all in the shade. The staff were friendly and attentive, our drinks arrived quickly together with menus. We chose chicken burgers, fish burger, Caesar salad, spaghetti with prawns and all were delicious. The children had a large plateful of vegetables, including corn on the cob, and a plate of chips which all disappeared so they must have been good. We were there for about 3-4hours, three out of four children had an afternoon nap so it was very peaceful. We would definitely go there again and...
