Atalaya — Restaurant in Calvià

We stopped here on the way back to our holiday home planning to try some of their tapas and a few Spanish patrons at the bar made us feel confident not being in a purely touristy bar.

We told the lady of the house or choices like jamon, manchego, tomato bread, croquettes, albondigas, patatas bravas and pimentos de padron and she suggested for us to opt for the large mixed platter where there should be a bit of everything and also meant to consider our choices for putting together the platter. The platter was cheaper than all our choices combined and since we tend to overorder we followed the recommendation.

What e received unfortunately consisted just if a few items on our list and other mainly fatty and fries dishes. I don't think this was a rip off but it just as wasn't nicely balanced anymore.

Taste-wise it was ok, I really like the chorizo though, hearty and nicely spiced. Tortilla, albondigas and the pimentos were nice too. I didn't care too much for the fried components (two types of croquettes, mayonnaise loaded patatas, fried calamari and onions rings, and the bacon wrapped dates, even though they had nuts in them as well.

09-2025: seit vielen Jahren waren wir gern wegen der Aussicht, den Snacks und gutem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ins Atalaya gegangen. 2024 gab es keine Snacks mehr und die ältere Dame, welche den Laden jahrelang geschmissen hat, war im Service nicht mehr aktiv. Wir nehmen an, dass Sohn oder Tochter übernommen haben. 2025 gab es wieder Snacks. Wir hatten Burger mit Pommes. Der Burger war ohne Würze und Geschmack, das Patty war sehr klein und die Pommes waren voll ölig. Die fritierten Sardellen waren in der dicken Panade zu trocken fritiert (verbrannt) und verblieben wie die Pommes fast komplett auf dem Teller. Es gab keine Nachfrage, ob es geschmeckt hat o. ä.. Sandwich war ok. Hefeweizen ist mit 6€ für den Laden viel zu teuer geworden! Vlt. geben wir dem Team noch mal eine Chance - aber für dieses Jahr ist Atalaya für uns...
