Meson Son Caliu — Restaurant in Calvià

Fantastic place to go with our little one 17 months, I had steak file medium rare and it was fantastic ! The photo, it's a big big plate like a big pizza plate. The misses ordered a Ceasar salad and she was a bit worried but here words "The best she ever had".

The staff is really really nice, and they all are very child friendly, this restaurant feels like a family owned restaurant. The atmosphere is very cosy, relaxt, and has a good cosy in a old way romantic Spanish setting, we both really like it !

They have a kids corner, more like a big place for the kids to play and hang out, even a small football field, it's all fenced off so you can only enter true the square where you eat outside.

Tonight will be our second night, normally we would go try other places but the 1st time was so good and perfect and our little one was also so perfectly treated by the staff, we know we will have a great time here so here we go again hahaha.

“Un’esperienza deludente al ristorante Son Caliu”

Il giorno 21 dicembre, io e la mia famiglia, appena arrivati a Palmanova (Maiorca), ci siamo recati al ristorante Son Caliu per pranzare. Non avendo una prenotazione, ci è stato chiesto di aspettare almeno 30 minuti. Con grande disponibilità, abbiamo approfittato di questo tempo per andare in hotel a lasciare le valigie, tornando puntualmente dopo mezz’ora. Al nostro ritorno, ci hanno fatto accomodare al tavolo.

Dopo esserci seduti, abbiamo ordinato specificando chiaramente al personale che siamo musulmani, quindi non consumiamo maiale né alcol. Come antipasti, abbiamo scelto crocchette di coda di toro, lumache e un’insalata. Come portate principali, abbiamo ordinato costolette di agnello e la paletilla de cordero. Tuttavia, è da questo punto che la nostra esperienza ha cominciato a deteriorarsi. • Le crocchette: Sono arrivate in due varianti, tre alla coda di toro e tre al jamón (prosciutto). Quando abbiamo chiesto conferma che fossero tutte alla coda di toro, ci è stato risposto di no. Abbiamo quindi gentilmente richiesto se fosse possibile riceverle solo alla coda di toro. • Le lumache: Dopo un’attesa significativa, ci è stato comunicato che non avremmo potuto consumarle perché contenevano maiale, cosa che avrebbero potuto informarci al momento dell’ordine, considerando la nostra indicazione iniziale. • Le portate principali: Le costolette di agnello erano buone, ma purtroppo servite tiepide. La paletilla de cordero, invece, era eccessivamente salata, al punto da essere immangiabile. Quando ho chiesto di portare via il piatto e ho suggerito che il personale lo assaggiasse, il cameriere, invece di scusarsi o trovare una soluzione, ha risposto in modo sgarbato, affermando che secondo loro il piatto era buono e che nessun altro cliente si era lamentato.

Considerazioni finali In base alla mia esperienza nella ristorazione (più di 25 anni), ritengo che l’atteggiamento del personale del Son Caliu sia stato poco professionale e maleducato. Errori possono capitare, ma l’arroganza e la mancanza di umiltà nel gestire il feedback di un cliente sono inaccettabili. Consiglio vivamente al personale di essere più attento alle esigenze dei clienti, soprattutto quando si tratta di richieste specifiche come quelle legate a motivi religiosi.

Nel complesso, è stata un’esperienza deludente che non consiglierei a chi cerca un servizio cordiale e un’attenzione alle esigenze...

So disappointed tonight. Persuaded 8 friends to try this restaurant, wish I hadn’t. Started well, restaurant has been beautifully refurbished. Starters were very tasty. Asked the waiter about the Angus beef coal roasted and he recommended it. Four of us chose it and it was very chewy, we gave up and didn’t manage to finish it. As the food was taken away we could hear lots of laughter from the staff.When I said we were disappointed the staff weren’t interested. No one came to check if everything was ok or did we want more wine etc. When we left they didn’t even say goodnight. At €70 per couple I think it was poor value for money. Only 3 other customers there so maybe they realise the restaurant won’t survive so have lost heart....
