Restaurante Isabel — Restaurant in Capdepera

The food was acceptable: we had two of the appetizers which tasted good; the paella with seafood was rather disappointing, plain and with little seasoning. Staff was disappointing due to rudeness and lack of decency.

The younger waiter was very friendly and did his job well, from our perspective, but the older waiter (I take him to be the owner) was unfriendly beyond belief. He kept throwing things at our table, such as the menu and little children’s games. The games were at first a funny gimmick, but at some point it became a nuisance that the older waiter just kept throwing these games at our table without asking and making unnecessary noise and disrupting us in the middle of a conversation. When we asked to pay, he snatched my card out of my hand without asking, placed it on the machine and simply threw it at the table, without having the decency to ask me if he could take it or even giving it back to me.

What seemed to me the most absurd was his way of treating his staff. The older waiter kept yelling at the younger one, especially when both were inside the restaurant.

The ambience is alright, the tables outside are more comfortable than inside.

Due to the average food, rude staff and not so cheap price point, I would definitely not return to...

The food was good and the brain teasers were fun. But if the restaurant owner is CHEATING the customers then the restaurant deserves one star.

In our bill, without telling us they added charges for bread served before the ordered food and charges for water. On asking the owner he himself defended it by saying “it is normal” and kept on repeating it.

The water served in the restaurant is filtered tap water in the glass bottles with the restaurant’s name on it. These bottles are not even sealed. It is illegal to charge for tab water in Spain irrespective of whether it is severed in a jar or in a bottle.

Der Inhaber hat uns keinen Tisch gegeben und der Grund war leider schlimm: unsere 16-jährige Tochter, die eine Regenbogenfarben Flagge auf dem Shirt hatte (Regenbogensymbol) - wir sind beschämt: Unfassbar arroganter und unfreundlicher älterer Herr, Inhaber/Service? Dies ist heute vorgefallen: Wir wohnen fast das halbe Jahr über in Arta und waren heute das erste Mal spontan dort. Drei freie Tische um 21 Uhr. Küche offen bis 22.30 Uhr. Die Tische waren nicht reserviert, wie der Kellner uns sagte. Gerade vor uns ankommende 4 Erwachsene ohne Reservierung dürften ihren Tisch aus den drei Freien wählen.

Dann waren wir an der Reihe und fragten freundlich, ob noch etwas frei sei zum Speisen.

Aber wir dürften nicht Platz nehmen. Der Kellner/ Inhaber (ein älterer Herr) sah unsere Tochter von oben bis unten abschätzig an und schrie laut über die ganze Terrasse: für Sie (!!!) haben wir keinen Tisch.

Wir konnten das erst garnicht einordnen und fragten dann „Achso, dann sind die Tische leider doch beide reserviert? Schade!“

„Nein, schrie da der Herr.“ Einige Gäste schauten zu uns. Es war sehr unangenehm.

Wir fragten freundlich, ob vielleicht in 30 Minuten noch etwas frei wäre. Dann wurde er noch lauter und so deutlich, dass wir nun verstanden:

„Nein, wenn ich sage für Sie (stark betont!) gibt es keinen Tisch, dann gibt es keinen Tisch!“

Das Essen soll ok sein dort haben wir hier gelesen, aber für uns hat sich nach diesem unfassbaren, offen zur Schau getragenen sehr verletzenden, homophoben Verhalten das Restaurant Isabel in Canyamel für immer erledigt. Wir werden es nie besuchen. So etwas ist uns in 20 Jahren auf der Insel noch NIE passiert. Unsere Tochter ging weinend zum Auto. Wieso machen Menschen sowas?

Wir waren / sind tatsächlich sprachlos und ehrlicherweise auch sehr beschämt.
