Bar Sol — Restaurant in Cartagena

Very local. Could be a hidden gem. We popped in as couple for a quick breakfast, tostadas are good, come is amazing, we tried hard in rurql Spanish language skills, but the waitress remained frosty, almost aggressive. As Germans, we're used to rough Service, we didn't expect a smile, but we've been literally afraid to order more (we did nevertheless, proudly). Incredibly inexpensive and great value for money (coffee latte+fresh juice+2 tostadas with ham = €6 incl tax&tip). Just the service is a bummer as rock bottom of grumpyness takes a toll on the mood. (No discrimination of tourists, though, acted grumpy to all mankind ......

Spotted this bar on the way into town from the railway station and Jorvic vowed to pop in on the way back. Very atmospheric. Paulicarus on vodka and Fanta lemon. Jorvic sticking to red vermouth. ( love the way the three barrels are stacked with taps connected to the vermouth of your choice) Good service. Decided to try the local coffee speciality..as Asiatico (2.2€) Condensed milk, spirit 43 and cinnamon amongst the ingredients. Very good but one is enough. Spent 12.3€....

Having returned from Spain with a severe case of food poisoning I can only attribute this to the lunch I had and shared with a friend in Bar Sol Cartagena. Thankfully my friend only had a small portion of my dish. His symptoms cleared in a couple of days. Unfortunately for me I consumed the whole meal. My symptoms have been with me for 6 days now and are not improving. Bar Sol is definitely off the list of places to visit for us on our next trip to this...
