Pensión Balcones Azules — Hotel in Cartagena

Great location near the centre of Cartagena, but very difficult to get close to with a car. Parking had to be in nearby underground carpark, then a 5 min walk with luggage through the pedestrianised streets to the hotel. Lovely little place which, although basic, is very clean and well run. The quiet location, and closeness of the town and harbour more than makes up for difficult car-access. On our first night here in this clean tidy hotel we had a free flamenco dancing show which lasted for about an hour. There were a couple of problems with this, one being it was in the street outside our room and the other being it started at 2am. No fault of the hotel just a group of locals. The room itself has a great shower and the unusual feature of an extractor fan that really worked. There are views of the Roman excavations right outside and you are only a very short walk from the centre of the action in Cartagena....

Easy to find with sat nav. 2 * pension. Around the corner from a pretty square and opposite a main archaeological site. Quiet location. Very close to a host of eati g venues. Staff very friendly. Only downside for us was the mattress on the bed was a bit too hard. Parking is in a nearby locked garage. 5 to 10 mins walk from the port and main archaeological site in the city.
