Absolutely heavenly food!

This is a hidden gem. Seems to be a very small and quiet place, with lovely and accommodating staff. It feels like a family business, in that there’s a chef and a helper/waiter, and 4 small tables. It has such a cosy athmosphere and a charming simplicity to it.

Speaking of the chef - what a food experience this was! The menu is hand-written in Spanish (which the owner kindly offered to help translate), and it changes every week depending on what the kitchen decides to cook that week. The food was really tasty. We had patatas bravas - which you can’t seem to go wrong with in this country - to start with. My also had a dish that reminds me of my mother’s cooking. Meanwhile my dish - breaded chicken - was so well cooked and so tender that every bite melted around my fork. Absolutely stellar food!

A very unassuming space serving a menu that changes daily. I can see this space full of regulars stop by to catch up with one another. We went traditional and ordered the seafood paella and the patatas bravas. Great spice blend on the paella giving the shrimp robust flavor. Even the crispy rice at the bottom of the cast iron pan had smoky tinges that only added, not take away. The patatas bravas were lightly crispy, and smacked of oregano, which I loved.

Ha sido toda una experiencia nuestra visita a La Vermut. Hemos estado por la mañana, probando sus tres tipos de vermuts y las tapas correspondientes (mix de aperitivos con chips, mejillones y piparras, anchoas, bravas,...) y por la noche disfrutando de la una extraordinaria propuesta culinaria; solo nos queda por probar sus arroces y fideuás del mediodía y a buen seguro que será en breve. Como veis, es una oferta distinta en función del momento que escoges. Local pequeño y muy acogedor pero con una cocina grande en todos los sentidos y bien equipada para elaborar la fascinante y seductora propuesta culinaria que ofrecen. Se nota cuando alguien trabaja y disfruta de su profesión y lo hace con cariño. Ver a Lady, en sala y terraza, cómo te atiende, con esa sonrisa y amabilidad y te explica los tres tipos de vermut que ofrecen y los platos que proponen, cómo se interesa por saber tu opinión acerca de lo que has consumido y ver cómo Javier, al frente de la cocina, trata los alimentos, cómo los combina, cómo los presenta es un regalo. Sin duda, de seguir así es uno de esos locales llamados a triunfar en una zona donde la oferta gastronómica es elevada pero los locales de autor, allí donde te sientes como en casa, son escasos y buscados. No hablo de los platos ya que como siempre eso es algo muy subjetivo (la pacora con hummus y tzaziki, el brioix Sloopy Josep, el revuelto con butifarra y calamar, espectaculares), pero sí me gustaría destacar el detalle de Javier al interesarse en cada mesa que entraba si alguien tenía alguna intolerancia o alergia a algún alimento para evitarlo o recomendarle opciones; cuidado detalle que cuesta de ver y...
