Restaurante Aquarium Port Ciutadella — Restaurant in Ciutadella

I and my partner have been regulars at this restaurant for the last 3 years. We live in Ciutadella and sadly we have been seeing a continuous decrease of the overall experience when dining at Aquarium. But what we experience yesterday evening shocked us to the core. After offering us an option to change the table for a calmer zone of the terrace , the owner (and the manager of all the waiters) grabbed my partners bag from a chair aggressively informing us that we are occupying a table without ordering and consuming the food. Apparently for him removing someone’s private items from a table when we are standing next to him is ok. We were just patiently waiting for the other staff instructions and his abrupt tone and anger was quite surprising. When we were moved to another table he shouted at the waiters that we should be ordering now and eating now because we waisted a lot of time and space (occupying table). All in front of us and other customers who were equally shocked by his behaviour. I told the owner that his approach was not nice, that he shouldn’t have treated us disrespectfully and we are just to enjoy our evening like we have done many times but the owner’s reaction was outburst of anger and disrespect: by shouting at us he told us to leave the restaurant and never come back! He didn’t allow us to order and continue our evening telling us to get out.

To the OWNER: Well sir, this is not how you should treat clients who are willing to spend an evening at your restaurant. I understand you need to make money of the place but this doesn’t give you the right to be rude to customers of who you make your living! Absolutely not acceptable behaviour! Be sure, we will never ever dine at your establishment anymore.

About the STAFF: some of the waiters and waitresses are really nice, friendly and extremely professionals and it is a pleasure to be attended by them. Unfortunately it appears that some others are working there by coincidence, are not very well trained and often create chaos, mistake the orders and are not very attentive. This significantly deteriorates the overall experience.

About the FOOD: it is really ok, and nicely prepared and presented , still a bit overpriced though IMO.

We were going there predominantly for the atmosphere and attention to detail in service which unfortunately plummeted down and ver the last few years.

Try your luck with this restaurant if you want to gamble your evening but plenty of other options in the port area which will offer less shocking experience, and definitely more...

Absolute shambles of a place, we went for a nice romantic meal here. Upon arrival we were seated and handed the menus and a drinks order was taken (this was the best and only good experience) our drinks arrived in 19 minutes, this is when we ordered both our starters and mains all going well, our starters arrived and we're ok not worth the price!!! We wanted some more drinks but it seemed we were invisible to all of the staff even when I asked as they passed it was brushed off. After 30mins or so I decided to get up at which point the head waiter I can only assume ran over with our mains, still no offer of a drink so I requested this again to get a grunt of a response as he was to interested serving his mates on another table. My partner ordered a rare steak and what come out I can only imagine had been in the grill from the previous night and resembled a piece of leather it was that overdone, again it took me about 10 minutes to get anyone attention to which it seemed we were a burden. We explained we ordered it rare to which it was examined by the waitress and then managed before they offered to renew this all good so we thought. 40 minutes later it was returned only after we asked as we had been forgotten about. The head waiter then slammed the plate down Infront of my partner and said cut it now! A little rude but could be lost in translation, she obliged and it was cooked rare as we had ordered. By this point we had both just had enough of very poor service!!! So decided not to argue and got the bill and left.

Went to this great looking restaurant for the final night of our holiday. Menu looked interesting and gave impression of being a laid-back yet good quality place. Unfortunately from the moment we walked in, it was evident that something was not right. The staff seemed annoyed at each other and no chat with the customers at all. The meal was OK at best but my partners steak was inedible. Tough and tasteless. Noone ever asked if the food was OK or how we had found it. We asked for one special thing which was for our daughters' bread to arrive with their salad mains, but that was ignored. When we politely complained about the steak, it was obvious we had become an annoyance and despite being made aware, the manager never came to apologise. A free glass of wine or free desserts for the children would have made a difference..... But nothing. They sent another waitress with the bill and we did get 50% off the steak only. But our evening was ruined. I did notice throughout that a couple of "special" tables got much more attention than the rest of the guests, so I hope those people had a good time. I'm afraid this restaurant does not live up to it's look or the interesting menu. A shame really.... We have had great food and service everywhere else in Ciutadella and Calan Bosch so there are plenty of...
