We had a very good diner at Mumtaz Mahal. 2 adults and 2 kids. We arrived at 2100hrs. Inside and outside it was already quite busy. Reservation is advised.

One friendly water welcomed us. Made some jokes. The other one, smaller waiter, couldn't find his smile today, i guess.

Extended menu with Indian specialties. Starters and main courses. Rice variaties. Children's menu. We had the garlic nan bread and the cheese nan bread. Fried shrimps. Samosas. Papadum. All to share as starter.

Regarding the impact of the starters we ordered one main dish. Curry Jalfrezi. Red curry. Quite spicy. Indicated on menu though. We ate this with arroz pilau. Good combination. Tasted really nice.

You can sit inside or outside. Parking around the restaurant, for free. All the food and 9 drinks... only 51,50eu.

All in total, we will certainly go back!...

6 of us visited Mumtaz Mahal in Coin, fairly quiet although it was a Wednesday night. We hadn't been here for at least 3 years because of inconsistencies with the food. We all had onions bhajis to start. Disappointing, they tasted ok but were very small about bite size. 4 of us had chicken madras, 1 had lamb madras & 1 had a mixed grill. The main courses were enjoyable on the night, the sauces tasted nice & there was a good portion of meat generally. The service was good. After we had left, during the night and following day 3 of us that had had the chicken dishes were ill. The 4th person ate only the curry sauce with her rice as she wasn't happy with the taste of the meat. There were no adverse effects from the lamb madras or the mixed grill. A generous 2 & we won't be risking it again. There are much better curry houses...

UPDATE 2 Feb 2024: Got talking to the owner who told me they appreciate constructive feedback, allowing them to aim for 100% perfection. Well done!!!! Review upgraded to 5* across all areas. Keep up the good work. We hope to visit for many years to come...

Lovely place with seriously good Indian food. Only drawback is that they always and constantly try to clear the table, when clearly you are not finished eating yet. Food still on the table and they come with 2 persons and ask if it’s ok to clear the table. From the 4 times we visited this happened every time, which is getting a bit annoying. Still… very good food, so we’ll keep...

The food was horrible. I do not understand why the review is so high. Tikka Masala was too too sweet. It’s like I just had sugar curry. The prawn tandoori was off, not a fresh one at all. Also, the service was nonexistent. Servers are so lazy. When they brought the food, they didn’t even want to move other plates which were already on the table. They just wanted to dump the food on the table. In the end, nobody bothered to ask if I like the food as I left most of the food as a waste.

Absolutely beautiful food, tasty and cooked to your liking, nothing you ask for is too much trouble. Attentive and friendly staff, always polite and everything done with a smile. English and Spanish speaking staff. Very comfortable dining with just the right ambience. Nice sized portions. Very reasonably priced. All in all a very nice restaurant and we will definitely be returning as this will be our go to Indian.
